m am on Medi-Cal and went in for a bi-annual exam on 2/21/17 at Western Dental San Marcos. They told me it would be $1727.30 to have my teeth "deep cleaned" and a crown put on a tooth with a "deep" cavity.

While I was still laying in the dental exam chair, they arranged for me to get a CareCredit Card and then fnance the rest though a payment plan with them.

The very next day I canceled all services and the upcomiing appointment scheduled for 2/24/17, because the following day I went to VCC (Vista Community Center), who examined my teeth, and said my Medi-Cal would cover all my "deep cleanings" and that there was enough of my tooth structure to do a filling instead of a crown.

Then I immediately received an invoice from the Western Dental Collections Department for the $1727.30 "contract." I contacted "Edgar" with Western Dental Corporate who said I needed to personally go in to San Marcos Western Dental office and have the office manager "close my account."

I went in to their office on 3/27/17, twice, and talked with the office manager- Griselda S. She canceled the paperwork but then I was told that I would still be charged approximately $145.00 for an electric toothbrush they had given to me, as what I thought was a "gift." At my protest she said she would contact her "boss" and call me within 24 hours of their decision. as to whether they were willing to refund me for the unused and unopened toothbrush.

On 3/1/17 I called Western Dental Grievance Department ("Jose") who forwarded an email to Griselda that I was still waiting for a decision.  I was told I could only try to return it to the San Marcos office for a refund and that it is up to the diescretion of each individual office location.

It has now been eight days since Gridelda was supposed to have called me about their "decision" as to whether to charge me for the toothbrush. I have called every day for a reply.

Note: I am on MediCal!!! I can not afford to get a deep cleaning for my teeth let alone purchase an electric toothbrush from then at the cost of one quandrant being cleaned! I have never  used an electric toothbrush and IF I were to start using one it would be from the department store I work at and not their brand.

I had a deep cleaning done back in March 2017. I don't have dental insurance, so I paid the huge amount in full right after at their office. Yesterday (Feb. 6th 2018) I received a letter from them, saying I still owe $165.50. Thinking this is surely a mistake I called them today. They said that I still owe them for the toothbrush and the toothpaste they gave me that time. I DID receive those items, however, they told me this is part of the treatment. I would've NEVER agreed to buy a $165 electrical toothbrush! Furthermore, why didn't they charge me for this the same day they gave it to me and I paid for the treatment!? Now, almost a year later, they want to get paid for it!? OR the two other times I went back to take care of some filling!? Why charge me NOW!? When I told her, it's ridiculous to even charge that much for two simple items, she gave me a discount and I ended up paying $145.

GET OFF GOVERNMENT AID  AND GET A JOB!!! No company gives away an expensive toothbrush as a "gift". If you can afford internet service then you can use that to get a JOB!
