Sunbelt Business Brokers DO NOT LET THIS COMPANY SELL YOUR BUSINESS,...they CHEAT, STEAL & LIE! NOT GOOD PEOPLE SO BEWARE Victoria British Columbia
My experience with Sunbelt is negative. I hired them to sell my business and right up front they took $1200 for selling my <100k business. They claim they have all this knowledge about the market and they do all this extensive research. THEY DON'Tthey do the least amount of work for the money you put out,..then after the sale they want 12% commission.
I was coached as to what to say to the potential buyer' Sunbelt introduced me too. Sunbelt claims they qualify' potential buyers, THEY DON'T and actually I found out later that you actually cannot qualify buyers. I learned that from my lawyer.
You have to sign a lengthy contract which states that Sunbelt is in no way responsible for any legal costs that might be incurred thru them selling your business. This takes all the responsibility off Sunbelt, even if THEY are responsible for your damages. As in my case
they introduced me to a woman who wanted to steal my business and thru Sunbelt she was almost successful in doing so because Sunbelt decided not to follow procedure and commonsense.
My contact with the owner' of Sunbelt who lives in Ottawa was positive at first. This man promised to take care' of the problem, but instead they did NOTHING! 10 days before this thief was about to take over my staff and business I HIRED MY OWN LAWYER. Of course I had to get a lawyer and only when I was paying the lawyer bill did Sunbelt all of a sudden become so helpful.
I continued my relationship with Sunbelt after my disappointment because I had signed a contract for 1 year and they had promised to reduce the amount of the commission on the sale of my business by the $5000 lawyer bill it cost me to save my businesswell shortly thereafter with 3 months remaining on my contract Sunbelt stopped marketing my business for sale without contacting me.
BIG GUY wins again. Well not if I can help it, it is my mission to make sure these crooks and their incompetence are exposed so others can use and pay reputable people to sell their business.
