MCi Worldcom Wireless Rip-off. Heartless!
I am an RN and while at work one day at the hospital I noticed a memo for "STAFF ONLY". It was an opportunity to get a free cell phone with good priced monthly service. Three of us ordered and all found out after we received our phones that the service was not available in our area. I called Customer Service and asked the very nice man specifically about the range in miles that our service would cover. I only offered a 3 mile span that was as narrow as a football field and irregular length likened to that of a dragon 3 miles long.
I returned the phone within 3 days of receipt. I called the people that I ordered the phone from and was referred to customer service to let them know I was returning the phone so that I wouldn't be charged. Everyone I spoke with said, "No problem!" So, I sent the phone back east somewhere using Priority Mail. I saved my receipt and record of phone calls made to the company and names of people I spoke with. After nearly 7 weeks of not hearing from anyone nor receiving any bills, I tossed the receipts and records.
I have since received 3 bills all of which I have responded with letters explaining in detail what I did, who I spoke with etc.
I also requested that they acknowledge my letters....nobody did.
I will make one more effort to send a certified letter which will require that "someone sign" for the letter.
I don't know what to do after that if I don't get through to someone.
My advice to anyone looking for a deal that looks to good to be true....DON'T DO IT. You get what you pay for and sometimes you will pay and pay and pay. I have not sent one penny to date and don't plan on paying. But Worlcom is in my opinion fraudulant and should be sued for misrepresentation of services.
