Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

“Cheat Squad” would be a more appropriate company name. Seems the company’s business model to “sell the $200 protection plan” and don’t worry about the fall out if your skill set is subpar for making in house repairs…. A simple task of installing a new hard drive on the HP laptop left for repair resulted in four missing screws on the underside. Plus the keyboard was not intact (hard to guess what spare parts may have ended up on the work table) and eight keys on the keyboard would not function. Upon return to the store to report the condition I was told “we are not authorized to open the case” …The case had to be opened to install the hard drive… Turns out, they lied to me and I never needed a new hard drive in the first place. They claimed I needed a new hard drive because they are not qualified to remove the malware or viruses that were on there in the first place. I had to find another company to get it cleaned up and fixed. I ended up finding SafePCFix based out of SoCal. They were able to log in and fix it remotely in a few hours. They sent me the screws that geek squad lost for my laptop.

These poor young geek squad employees are being fed and fattened up on a corporate line of mumbo jumbo that covers up ineptness and a fraudulent business model… eventually the result will be the end of any integrity for the Geek Squad brand and their own employment….Needless to say when I checked in with SafePCFix they were friendly, helpful, respectful, knowledgeable, quick to diagnose the issue and reasonably priced…now that is a great business model. I have no problem with a referral…Buyer Beware at Best Buy and Geek Squad Agents….

Whoever told you that they dont open up laptops at Bestbuy is lying through their teeth. Just about every pc is opened up there to remove the hard drive and attach it to the server behind the counter for virus removal, driver or software installs and so forth. That being said, you may want to do a small claims against them. Chances are your PC was defective or set to die moment you left the store. Here is why:

BestBuy/Geeksquad survival is dependant on service sales because just about every PC they sell has no markup, meaning next to no profit/ Since Blacktie, software installs, etc are 200% markup/profit they need a way to bring you back to the store for future repairs(sales) To do this, Im sure you allowed them to do a free virus scan or free optimization before the unit left the store? Moment you let them touch your pc, you were guarateed to return like everyone else who is desperate to have a working PC. When you let them do a free scan, the moment the program ran on your pc, it got infected with any number of programs so not much later on, you had to return and have drivers installed which was caused by the infections. When you allow them to run a free optimization, or even pay them for it, they are supposed to remove unwanted, un-needed spyware programs that slow your pc, but actually, they install their own versions so you actually paid them to put these on your system.

Just because you have an antivirus program installed, doesnt mean your system is clean. Because many of their pcs are infected, the programs arent really running, and when they run them on your pc, if they installed the antivirus, it was infected from the start so didnt really work either. This is all done to get you to come back, and it works. Go to any store and watch them peform a free scan or software install. Watch after they complete it that they move the cable, flash drive, or portable drive right into the next pc waiting. Whatever was infecting the pc before it has now infected the next unit and because every store all over the USA does the same thing, theres always more customers to replace the ones who got scammed.

It gets better. I cant say if geeksquad does work on any of our governments defense systems, and I seriously hope they dont because the same infected hardware they use on personal computers is also used on many of our governments systems who contracted them! All those hacked systems you hear about on TV where tuns of data is stolen, isnt because of some security hole, its caused by techs who do not bother to make sure they are using 100% clean pcs.
