About 8 years ago we had a workmens comp case that was a living hell with Gallagher. It was horrible - they would pay, then not pay, then pay, then not pay. Was granted several emergency hearings in court, would send in a new lawyer each time and each time the lawyer would say - " I just received this case and I need a continuance" - 4 times in a row. Visited their doctor - as required and was told it would be a long while before I could go to work, was never asked to see him again - the next week this doctor "released" me to go back to work, according to Gallagher. I was not seeking treatment from him, I had my own physician. It was absolutely insane. They ended up owing over 26000 in just weekly payments - I guess I was lucky in that they did pay for all the medical bills. Unfortunately, I settled for way less than what was actually owed on the back pay, because I had a family to support. THis year long episode left us in a lot of debt. My suggestion to anyone who has to receive payment from them or see their doctors to beware - and make sure you have representation ( although that didn't help us too much because somehow the courts never caught on to the fact they kept changing lawyers ). Be watchful of the doctor they send you too, and make sure you stay on top off their mysterious out of the blue work releases. I really think the doctor should be held just as responsible but didn't have the money or time to fight this.

As dealing with GB is hell for unrepresented Injured Workers. They will spend a million to avoid paying you the most minimal of benefits. And let me tell you from the provider end, many providers will NOT take GB patients because they will authorize procedures and then refuse to pay for them. Many Work Comp cases don't require an attorney, as the carriers follow the law to the letter and do what is right..unfortunately Gallagher-Bassett ISN'T one of them. If your state allows you to transfer your care to another doctor after a period of time, please do so. This guy sounds as if he is firmly in their pockets. Additionally, if you have further diagnostic x-rays/CT/MRI, request a copy of the films to take with you. They may charge you a minimal charge to copy these, but then you have documentation. Good luck.
