Floor and Decor Eco Forest Brand Spanish Tiger Bamboo defective crackling and cupping. We purchased this bamboo flooring and had it in the house for acclimation one month before installation. It was installed over an underlayment with moisture barrier with adhesive all recommended and purchased from floor decor. We noticed it beginning to do what they call cupping and crackling underfoot about 2 to 3 months after installation.
We purchased this bamboo flooring and had it in the house for acclimation one month before installation. It was installed over an underlayment with moisture barrier with an adhesive all recommended by FLOOR AND DECOR. We noticed it beginning to do what they call cupping and crackling underfoot about 2 to 3 months after installation. The flooring was installed in the media room and 2 bedrooms located towards the back of our house about as far from the front door as you can be.
The flooring was covered with construction paper while the base and quarter round trim was installed. FLOOR AND DECOR hired an "inspector" to evaluate the problem. His determination was the problem was caused by moisture from contracotors going in and out the front door to install the trim. He told us that moisture causes this problem with bamboo.
We asked him if it was possible the bamboo was defective and the moisture was in the bamboo to began with. He told us we should have tested the bamboo for moisture content before we installed it with a moisute meter. Our response was shouldn't FLOOR AND DECOR have warned us about this in advance and if this is the case offer us a moisture meter along with the flooring.
We think it is obsurd we should have checked every board for moisture content and what is the right content? FLOOR AND DECOr offers you the opportunity to hire your own "independent" inspector to challenge the decision. However there are only 2 qualified inspectors in Houston, one of whom FLOOR AND DECOR hred and who are probably dependent on companies like FLOOR AND DECOR for most of their income. We believe this is a aproblem with this product.
