Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Dell Inspiron 1150. The prices of these laptops start at $764. With a 2.6 GHZ celeron instead of Financing Alternatives 2.4 GHZ from other companies.

Even if you want to upgrade to a powerful system, the price stays well below 1300 dollars if EVERY expensive option is chosen. What does Financing Alternatives charge for a lower end compueter than this one? $2367! I can bet you they get those computers for under 500 bucks. Because they get discounts, and the laptop Financing Alternatives sells is LESS adorned than this current Inspiron 1150. So you can bet they pay much less for the computer. The retail for the computer Financing Alternatives sells is about 500 dollars now.

Why are they charging 1500 to 1800 dollars extra for it? That must be some heavy financing charges, and bank fees for ACH withdrawls. Last time I checked they are 9.95 per transaction (that is the maximum allowable by law ACH companies can sharge). That means Financing Alternatives charges some 300 to 500 dollars in total ACH fees with the loan. That for many people can pay car insurance for a 6 month policy! That means there's still 1000 to 1200 dollars unaccounted for.

We have accounted for the 500 to 600 dollar price you can acquire an exact model laptop that Financing Alternatives sells for a 400% markup. We have the ACH fees which are 300 to 500 dollars for the 1 year loan (what I think is Financing Alternatives pays very little for bank transactions, but makes more money by charging nearly 10 bucks for each transaction to account for those "bank fees"). Here is the link. See for yourself. They are taking advantage of bad credit people, because they cant qualify for the 29 bucks a month financing from dell. Plus Joey, sure they may pay a lot for a 3 year computer loan, but I highly doubt its 2300 dollars.

You haven't responded. Your awfully quiet. George H. Christian hasn't come on here to explain himself. This means you know this is all true. You are afraid of the truth. Thats fine but Financing Alternatives is going down.

Didn't I say, and I quote myself "That's fine, but Financing Alternatives is going down." That was some 3 years ago. WOW how the time flies! 3 years later things are still the same for me. My credit is stellar, I buy any computers from Dell with their zero interest promotions. I just knew George H. Christians greed would catch up to him at some point! It is a known fact, and I even proved it using mathematics, that he was ripping off consumers long before these executives came about! After my many reports on their bad practices, FAI had updated their website to include the following section: Why am I paying so much for a computer through you when I can get one much cheaper through a major retailer? FAI says that yes, the computers are much more expensive, and they are taking a risk by granting 'credit' to someone and have to compensate for that risk. Blah blah blah. It was apparently in response to my many phone calls, reports, and an ad I had placed in the Chesepeake newspaper. They had justified the highly inflated prices of the computers based on people with bad credit coming forth for 'credit.' Furthermore, the Truth in Lending act required them to disclose the APR of the loan that they claimed it was. They never did in financing paperwork, nor did they on here. Yet, if it wasn't a loan, then why were they granting credit to people, letting them make payments, and then send a computer out? Claiming it was a layaway plan...a layaway plan allows you to pay how much whenever you want. Not a contractual fixed monthly payment amount. A contract constitutes an agreement of credit being extended to the individual. Furthermore, my predictions in another ROR report around the same time I first posted this one...I stated that they were keeping peoples money, and delaying shipping to make their end of the year fiscal figures look better! Did I not!?!? Apparently they were doing that in the end, I had no idea but had a hunch! I knew what a crook George was and I never met the guy! It all turned out to be true!!! LMAO! Now the guy hired a CEO to run the company while George lived a lavish lifestyle off peoples hard earned money, but apparently he was deceived in the process. He got too comfortable and cocky figuring a CEO would do all his dirty work for him while he walked around in PJs all day every day. Unfortunately for him, the CEO concocted a way to deceive him in the process and now completely undermined the company. The CEO was able to form a similar company leaving curious George with nothing but his two nuts and an Ahole to keep them company. Remember Mr. George H. Christian...what comes around goes around! You just got pawned! I wonder if the CEO got that idea to delay shipments to improve the company's fiscal health from one of my posts. I would be highly honored if he did, and I would expect some sort of compensation for utilization of the idea! Ahhhhh! Now back to my usual life. Toodles!

#6Consumer Suggestion

Wed, May 24, 2006

The computers they sell can easily be purchased for 500 bucks. Simply save 100 a month (same cost as you are paying them each month) and after 5 months, viola! You have a same quality computer. Half the software (valued at over $600?! I saw some of the same software titles in the CompUSA bargain bin for 1.99 to 5.99) is useless, meaning you'll never use it. The commercial is still the same. The lady is soft spoken and seems to care. The commercial was obviously low budget and low key. They target minorities by advertising on BET and other channels. You don't see Financing Alternatives on CNN or Fox News. I feel overcharging for computers because someone has bad credit is the same as rent a center. The new layout of the website is pleasant and refreshing. BUT, the price comparison chart is inaccurate. They assume MINIMUM payments on a credit card for several years, and minimum payments on installment contracts. No one is going to just pay the minimum payment on a credit card for 4 years. Further, why are they suggesting that these same people with bad credit could charge 2 grand on a credit card and make minimum payments. They wouldn't qualify for such a high limit in the first place. I'm sorry, but this targeting of bad credit clientelle is absurd. Why not sell the computers for 800 bucks and still make 400 to 500 profit? They get the computers at wholesale prices. This 1500 bucks for a low end 500 dollar computer business is old, and the average joe wont fall for it.

#7UPDATE EX-employee responds

Wed, May 24, 2006

I worked there for a small amount of time, and I am sorry. I know alot more about computers now as well as the cost. The computers are cheap. You will not receive the computer on time. I did not know this at the time. And I did not know that these computers were such low end. The owner George Christian is supposively on drugs. And trust me he does not give a ****. He pulls up in front of the building in a LIMO like he is some big shot. He is from the slums and I know this, because when you initially start, they tell you his life story and how broke he was. What they do not tell you is how he rips off his customers. Then every once in a while for his wrong doing he gives a computer to 1 out of 80 million customers who has some sort of disability to feel good about himself for rippingl off the United States, or actually that is probrably for pubilicity inside the company so the employees feel good about themselves. They will rip you off for sure. There were so many complaints it was ridiculous. I had customers call in that wanted there computers made payments did not receive. And trust me if you cancel you will get any funds back. And they will continue to draft until you stop them. They target blacks and the employers have shown themselves to be racist inside the company and to there customers. Unfortunatley if you do not have a computer yet you wont be able to look at ripoffreport. That is where they get you at. I was there years ago and I went to school for IT and regret ever working for such racist demons. Long story short. Do not buy anything from them or you will regret it. If you have STOP PAYMENT.
