the only voltage coming out of the satellite receiver. is the lnb line going to the dish. it should have about 18 volts dc on it. the other outputs are line outputs and should have no voltages on them.they should just be audio/ video signals. because they use coupling capacitors to separate the dc voltage from the sat to the tv. even the inputs on the tv have coupling capacitors. the 18 volt dc output to the lnd as short protection circuit built into the receiver. the 18 volt short protection would have had to fail. then the installer connected it to the tv instead of the dish. after 25 years in the business i have accidentally connected the sat to the tv. and never had either one die. their would had to be a huge failure in either the sat or tv or both. the only other possibility would be. that the electrical outlet was wired wrong and the dish wasnt grounded before. then when the installer moved the dish he grounded it. now ive seen that happen before. i had a cutomer replace to electrical outlets in the house. naturally where the 2 sat boxes went. one outlet was wired right. the other was wired wrong. it blew up both sat receivers and the dp 34 switch that i had installed at the dish. i even checked the outlets using my 3 prong checker. and it said the outlets were wired correctly. thats when the customer informed me he had rewired the outlets. he took the neutral wire connected to the hot on the plug . then the hot wire connected it to both the ground and the neutral connection on the plug. when he conntected the plug back in this manner. the ac checker read it has being connected right. the customer ended up paying for his mistakes. i even had a licensed eletrician do this. it nearly fried me. get a electrician and make sure this wasnt the problem..
