Walmart sent me an email that said, "Have a gift card you don't want? Exchange it for a Walmart Ecard."

I trust walmart so I didn't google any scams or we would have saved 11 days and in excess of 8 hours on the phone. The description says you can get "up to 97%" of the value of the gift card you want to exchange.

I had a $90 Kmart giftcard.  The cardcash.com web site offered $78 for the card. The confirmation came so quick that I felt assured.  Besides, Walmart suggested the service and I believed a giant company.

My husband checked on the status of the card and spent over 2 hours in a queue that seemed generated just to make the company look popular and busy.  Several times my husband would get to called 14 and then get disconnected.

Cardcash.com has an email of "[email protected]"  My husband emailed again saying that the amounts were lowered from $78 to $52 to $2.  Four promises of "getting your issues resolved in a timely manner" never happened.  After another wasted 2 hours, my husband called right back, determined to reach someone and he did.  "Rachel" offered to transfer the call to a manager.  A person never answered.  An outgoing voicemail didn't have a message but since we heard a tone, we left a message.

When I checked on the status of the Walmart ecard today, the status is listed as "paid," which isn't accurate.

I guess that some transactions get through to make the company appear legitimate, but most gift cards end up being profit for this "company." Cardcash.com is expecting a large percentage of people to give up after they reliaze that new Ecard isn't coming. They have a built in profit of those who are too stressed to deal with additional hours to resolve their problem.

I am filing complaints with the chamber of commerce in NJ, the FTC, Ripoff report.com, the BBB in NJ and additional consumer fraud companies.

I also warned Walmart NOT to associate with a scam.  Walmart has disclaimers on the web site that they are not affiliated with Cardcash.com.  However, they are giving credibility to this company by suggesting them.

If I had only googled "fraud and Cashcard.com" I would not have wasted time.

Another suggestion for resolution is to immedicately call the fraud department of whatever gift card you wanted to sell.  Ask to exchange your card for a new one because you feel it has been compromised. That is a way to get resolution since Cardcash.com isn't going to offer any.

One voice is a start. Multiple complaints can lead to legal action.  If you have been ripped off by Cardcash.com, please file complaints. It will take less time to email your concerns with others than the hours you will spend on hold with cardcash.com.

After over a week of calls, emails and 11 + hours on hold (not all on one call), we have resolution.  I called the help line set up just for Walmart customers who were expecting an Egiftcard.  A person answered right away and I had a result in the same day.  We received an ecard for the original amount expected.  I use "expected" rather than promised because Cardcash.com wasn't living up to their promise.  Our diligence and Walmart's assistance helped get resolution.  For anyone else who is frustrated at being ripped off, try contacting the customer service department of the company that either holds the gift card you are selling or the one you are purchasing. Cardcash.com lacks a sense of urgency, follow up or integrity.  Every complaint filed against them matters.  Don't give up!
