I recieved a free subscription to Buckmasters magazine, which also enrolled me into North American Hunter and Hunter Magazines. The free subscription was indicated to last for a year from which I thought I would need to request a renewal and start paying for the subscription. I recieved around 6-7 magazines over the course of the year, but not one for each month as discribed. I did'nt feel ripped off at the time because it was free, but later that year I got something like 15 phones calls from them asking to renew my subscription.

Since the magazines were basically advertisements with 2-3 real articles of no real value to the average hunter and I never got them anyway I said no to the renewal. Well, this is where it gets interesting. Buckmasters magazine apparently continued the subscription and sent my bill to a debt collections agency who called me roughly every other day with auto calls, which if you picked up they demanded payment and this bill was placed against your credit history!

I refused to pay, but they said the only way to get this off my credit report was to have Buckmasters cancel the debt and recend the collections notice. Well I called Buckmasters and they said if I did'nt specifically call them to cancel the free subscription that a real subscription was generated and billed to me, which seems odd given they had called so many times earlier about the renewal. Anyway, it took many different calls to the magaizine to have bill recended and even then, two years later the collections agency started calling again about he same thing, apparently through another auto subscription scam.

Anyway, it took me another 10 calls to cancel the subscription and cancel the debt calls. Basically I say this is a SCAM because they automatically give you a subscription and charge you unless you call to cancel and even if you do its your word against theres, they just don't key your phone response into the system. Then later you get a debt collections call, with charges against your credit that will either require you to ramble through Google finding others compliants and resolutions or just PAY THEM OFF which is the SCAM. Make it so hard to fix your credit, that its easier to just pay the $130 subscription fee.
