Ashley Furniture ripoff! Bait & Switch! Furniture delivered was entirely different & less quality than what was displayed on showroom floor. Cherry Hill New Jersey
An all leather sofa & luv seat was displayed on showroom floor exactly as it appeared in courier post newspaper. Having sat in it & inspected it from top to bottom I agreed to purchase it, along with a rocker recliner. The store manager required a deposit of $600.00 which I paid by check Dec 29 03. He said delivery would take 10 to 20 days. He gave me a copy of the order & I left the store.
The evening before the furniture was to be delivered my daughter went on the internet to Ashley's site & put in the item numbers of the furniture on the order. What came up was entirely different than what was on the floor. I immediately called the manager, he said, the set I sat on was never in his store. I then requested that he not deliver the furniture. His response, "I CAN'T DO THAT & if you don't take delivery there would be a 25% of the total bill restocking charge." The total bill was $1300.00.
The next morning after delivery I went to the store. the manager still insisted the set I sat on & thoroughly inspected was never in the store & he would not take back the furniture delivered. it was a classic example of BAIT & SWITCH
