My husband bought into Westgate vacation villas in 1985. We have been going almost every year since we have been married.
This year was no different. We checked in and went to our villa. It is run down because they put all the money into the new buildings. We pay 850.00 a year in maintenance fees and taxes. We scheduled our VIP breakfast for two days into the vacation. We paid the (refundable) 20.00.
We showed up on time and were escorted to the crowded breakfast room. We got our food and were listening to the nice young man go on and on how he worked for us. You know the usual drill. We toured the new buildings which of course are much nicer than ours.
We went back to a different room and we told them we were not interested in buying a new week or upgrading. He left us to get the survey. We were met by another man who said we had to sign back our equity to Westgate. He asked us why we never agreed to the lower priced upgrade?
We said we didn't know what he meant. He presented us with a contract. To the tune of 222.00 a month we were offered the upgraded timeshare. He said we had to sign the contract to release the property back to Westgate?
We did not sign it of course. The other paper they shoved in front of us was a release of our equity. We didn't sign that either. My husband told them he felt very uneasy. We wished we would have grabbed that contract. Owners Beware!!!!!
We left before we were refunded our 20.00. I am still wondering about the release of equity back to Westgate? We never received the survey. We never told them what was wrong with the villa like all the past years. I still feel uneasy. No one contacted us the following five days.
