Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I have been with Wellsfargo Bank for over 17 years! I have two accounts and a mortgage with them. (Never been late nor missed a mortgage payment in 13 years) But I have been ripped off with so many overdraft fees by them over those years that I shoul have a couple of shares. What I have found is that depending on who you spoke with the rules and guidelines will flip-flop accordingly! You can check til 1 or 2 o'clock in the afternoon and if you make a deposit. (Cash) they will hold your deposit as pending and process the transaction. Charging the largest transaction first and all the $1, $5-smaller transactions will be dinged with a $35 overdraft fee for each and every one! The fees will be 'arranged' in a manner that will be of benefit to them of course! When asked why would they do that they told me that is what they are Manxdated to do by the federal reserve because normall the larger amount are mortgage , car payments etc. what the Heck??? So this past Friday a few minutes after 9:00 am I made a cash deposit! Monday when I checked my account I was accessed a $35 over draft fee! (Due to this practice I have had as high as a $250 in fees)When I called to question why they told me because it was after 9 pm! When I asked how was I to know that the cash deposit would not be credited immediately they told me it should have been posted on the machine! She refused to reverse the fee. I'm on Social Security and often unexpected fees can mean a choic between to get food or medicine or not to get food and/or medicine. I have deposited cash as late as 10:30 with US Bank without penalty) Hate is too strong a word for me but I strongly dislike well Fargo Bank! Working on finding a way to get rid of Wells Fargo! STRONGLY.....dislike them.

Now we get the typical "Woe is Me" Pitty Party.  Where the entire world is against you and you are just barly surviving.  You have one foot already in the streets and just hours away from having to dig through trash cans for your next meal of scraps.

You do this for one reason, to try and gain some sympathy...point "Meatless Chicken".  FYI, as your Green Groccer tip of the day.  "Meatless" chicken is often more expensive per pound than you can get real chicken.  But if you are really trying to save money, beans can provide much of the same proteins and will be even cheaper.

So if you actually took a step back you would realize that each and every one of the posts are telling you the same thing.  How to avoid these issues in two easy steps.  Now, they were said in different ways, but they were saying the same thing

Step 1: Keep an accurate written register. You do this by writing down every transaction you make.  If you are leary about your math skills, go to your local dollar store and pick up a calculator.

Step 2: Do not even attempt to spend money, unless you currently have it available in your account. This even includes writing a check or authorizing a debit.

Now, if you intentionally spend money you do not CURRENTLY have available in your account it doesn't matter what bank you are with...you are subject to the same exact overdraft fees.  If you still deny it, then as suggested switch banks to a bank that you think is more overdraft friendly...see you back here in about 3 months after that.

To Mr.Captains of the World

Dear Mr. Captain of the World;

Thank you so much for your solictied information and judgement.  Let's include some information for you to include in your judgement for justification purposes.  Let's start with a Definiton: Captain of the World. A strongly opinionated individual who makes it their business to make sure all other do what they normally are not doing themselves.

I retired from Ohio Bell after 30 years of service. In those time you paid into your retirement and your company matched it. The plan was at retirement to enjoy life after over 30 years of being gainfully employed. The Wall St. CRASH took with it my years of retirement savings and accumulation. I went to work until I had to stop to take care of my 1st my mother, then my mother in law and just last year my father. They barely had retirement so my husband and I made up the difference to help them with living their days out in comfort. Now they are gone.

I find my self not having more month in expenses than I have money. I don't go shopping, I don't go out to eat. I live humbly! Gas goes up so I only dirve when I have to. My property tax keeps going up so I split my pills in half in order to not have to buy them every month. We had NO food and I wrote a check for meatless chicken , cabbage and potatoes that I could cook to last for 2-3 days. I don't bother anyone for charity. And on top of that I don't need your speculation about what I do and why I have to do it. I am so old and so tired I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK! I don't know you. You really don't know me. You have NO idea what I have lived through and you wouldn't unless you walked a mile or two in my shoes.

So if you don't work for Wells Fargo...why are you policing and rebutting on this page. What secret are you hiding behind. What I do know is that often time people like you feel empowered by sitting back on their toots and TRYING to concern themselves with the plights of others and measuring the morality of their situations. Most often their lives are a bigger mess than the people they want to make themselves appear better than. You see Mr. Captain since I am a survivor I don't expect you to relate to nor give approval of my ways and desires for surviving. I am far beyond your reproach. Makes me wonder if you are the creator of this Blog.

Since I am 69 years old. It is difficult to gain employment . They don't ask your age but they ask the year of your graduation. Normally 69 year olds are in poor health, I am blessed to not be in that condition. So I have finally found work.  For me it's irrelevant that I need time and I need to scurry to the bank. The bottom line is the banks finnagle situations to their advantage. The rules for today change for tomorrow and as a consumer I cant help but wonder Why would they not let the rules be known and let us be aware if they change?!

The same bank you have the audacity to defend is the same bank that added credit cards to bank members accounts and sent the fee's for interest and renewal? That the BANK MEMBER did NO(T authorize or request!!!!!!They do not operate under the pretense of integrity. And for your informaion, though it's none of your business....one account is for Me and Mr. and one account is my own. I had to stop auto deductions because they kept coming before my pay date which caused overdrafts. And as I stated they would situate the payments so that they generated more revenue for them and fees for me! I feel THAT is wrong and I'm not changing how I feel about it!!

So Mr Captain, The bank is in the business to make money off of the consumer ,.....by any means necessary. My financial situation will soon be resolved, I am wllling to bet your mess will continue to still be a mess. You need to find something else to do other than patrol, police and captain people voicing how they feel they have been Ripped off! I'm glad to know there is a place to voice how I feel. What I'm not happy about is you on this page trying to tell me I don't have a right to voice what I feel is injust. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone! How about that!!

Sincere regards,

Barbara

So you have had an account for years..

It is very interesting how you have stated you have had your account for years and you state you have been overdrafting your account long enough to where you know what is going on...this is a very key item.

As if you know what they are doing...why don't YOU change your ways to avoid these fees?  You do not keep a written register, because if you did you would't need to keep "checking" your account.  So with a history of improper account management, why haven't you figured out that the bank isn't going to change their process?   You MUST keep a written account register.  Then never spend money unless it is actually available in your account.  If you do this you can avoid all of these fees.

This isn't the 60's, 70's or even the early 90's.  You can't beat money back to the bank.  You can't "float" a check for 2-3 days in the hopes of getting the funds in before the check hits.  As soon as you swipe your debit card, take money out of an ATM, or even write a check in a store you have to figure that the money is no longer available in your account.  Yes, I did include checks, as a majority of the stores that still accept checks process them electronically and they can hit your account as soon as the same day.

But then we get to a very interesting statement.  You stated another bank you have deposited money as late as 10:30(PM?) and been credited that day.  So this brings up some interesting questions.  Since you can't even seem to manage one account why do you have two?  Why if you are on SSI and are trying to spin a tale of you being just a fee away from being on the streets, do you have two accounts?  If for some reasons you MUST keep the WF account, why isn't your other bank your primary account?

By the way if you want an answer to the last question, it is because as soon as that becomes your primary(or only) account if you don't change your ways you will find that the other account will start to suffer from the same issues you have with WF.

No I do not work for WF, and would have said the exact same thing regardless of the bank you said.

Until you learn how to keep a check register and balance your checkbook YOU will always be in the negative.  Stop blaming the bank and take responsibility for your own actions.

but you're wrong. It's not the greed of Wells Fargo causing the fees. It's your inability to properly maintain your account. Cut off times for deposits to credit the same business day are available on their website, easily accessible from the computer you posted your report on.

The proper way to maintain your account is this: keep an accurate register of all transactions, add deposits when they post, subtract debits when you authorize them, and most important have the money to cover the transaction before you authorize it. The days of float are over. It's almost impossible to pay someone and then "beat the check" to the bank. The way you handle your account would generate fees at any bank.

Banks can posts trnasactions in any order the want as long as they tell the customers the order. If you check your account, you will see they post the same way everyday and don't do anything different when you overdraw your account.

You being on Social Security has nothing to do with the situation. It's a bid for sympathy. And no, I don't work for the bank.

YOU Ripped YOURSELF Off!

You don't keep written records nor an on going running balance. You don't know or abide by the funds availability policy. As such, YOU give YOURSELF overdraft fees and have done so continuously, by using the account without having the slightest clue of its balance.
