Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have put out $150 Canadian and have not seen the finish product. We have been ripped off royally. I would like the media to get a hold of this article. We were told if we used the music we would have to pay him back for each song. He has called us minority and we would have to wait for the product longer. I think this is not professional at all. IF you are going to run a label you would come out with the product and not saying I sent it out and lie to us. I am sick and tired of all this and I would like the finish product. If your a news person that gets a hold of this article pleasee let us know and we can do a story. We are also going to send this information off to pittriff so they can do article on this as well. This Recording studio has ripped to many people off and likes to take the money and run.

Same old links repackaged on one new page, all claims have been resolved

This is the last time I'm going to reply to whomever you are, again anonymously, rehashing the same old claims that have already been settled, again, most of which are several years old.  I don't understand what axe you continue to have to grind with me, I refunded your fee, and that should really be the end of it.  I don't know why you continue to assault the reputation of my company as we've moved on, maybe its time you do the same.  You've made your point, anyone who wants to agree with you is free to, and those - including the band above, which was NOT ME but an actual band who worked with us POST all your bs allegations by the way - who choose to continue working with us are free to as well.

I'm again sorry for whatever I inadvertently did to upset you, I have attempted to make it right, and that's really about all I can do.

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

I am not sure who this individual is who again ANONYMOUSLY continues to lie about me and my company on this board.   As stated numerous times before, we have resolved every of the handful of complaints in the form of a refund if requested or sending MORE product if the CDs mailed in the first place got lost in the mail, as can happen unfortunately on occasion when dealing with the USPS.

Of the releases we put out last year, EVERY BAND RECEIVED THEIR CDS, their artist photo/bio in the CD booklet, their inclusion in press releases, retail coverage, etc., so I'm not quite sure where you bases your allegations on.  EVERY complaint you reference is PAST TENSE, in most cases several years old, and as a company, we're moving forward by working with TENS OF DOZENS of new bands who for whatever reason - IN SPITE OF YOUR CONTINUED FALSE ALLEGATIONS - CHOSE INSTEAD TO KEEP WORKING WITH US.  So we must be doing something they makes them feel comfortable about doing business with us.

I'll say it now as I've said it before, the problem with boards like this is ANYONE can anonymously come out and allege anything they want to about anyone, and even if the misunderstanding's been resolved, they can still assail your reputation and call you a liar and a scammer and any other LIBELOUS LIE they want to, and you have NO RECOURSE legally but to come out and AGAIN deny it FERVENTLY as I do here and now.  To back that up, in the coming year, we'll continue to post positive feedback from dozens of new bands around the country working with us who continue to be happy with the end product and have WILDLY different opinions about doing business with us than what you anonymously continue to allege.

Regards, and Happy New Year, Versailles Records

Another ANONYMOUS Accusation with NO PROOF of ANY KIND, Gotta Love RipOffReport

#6REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, December 24, 2012

Here we go again, a day before Xmas.  What I continue to love about the occasional comment we get from a disgruntled musician who posts something like this ANONYMOUS individual did who called me a liar without any context or project reference, or any other kind of meaningful proof with which to back up their claim.  Please reference our lengthy rebuttal above to this kind of patent lie, and if the specific individual who left this random rant has any real grievance, they're free to email me directly about it and we'll do our best to resolve it, as we've dutifully done with every of the HANDFUL of complaints lodged on this board.  I underscore HANDFUL, because there's been ONLY that many out of hundreds of bands we've successfully worked with (AND CONTINUE TO WORK WITH re 2013) over the 9 new releases we have coming out next year.  SO: Happy Holidays to everyone from VR and we hope everyone has a great New Year!

Why would 150+ of new bands continue to work with this label in 2012 alone if they are ripoff artists?

#8UPDATE Employee

Fri, October 12, 2012

We have resolved every complaint lodged on this board, either in the form of refunded inclusion fees (with promos that went missing re-sent - meaning the band still made it on the project, STILL got their photo/bio in the CD booklet or book, STILL received the RETAIL coverage promised, still GOT the PROMOS in the end run, in most cases have even agreed to remove their complaint) and still, this website will not even acknowledge those remedies anywhere on their site.

Why would 150+ of new bands from around the world continue to work with us over the course of SEVEN new tribute albums and related compilations coming over this year and ALL of them, ALL OF THEM, signed up this year and in the midst of this horrid stain on a 12 year reputation this label has built trying to help new bands get their music out in the face of an ever-shrinking retail market.

Reference POSITIVE feedback/praise from some of these bands on our recently-released Ozzy Osbourne and Van Halen Tributes. In the coming months remaining in 2012 and 2013, we will release 5 more projects featuring tens of dozens of new bands, so hopefully heading into the future, more honest press can be lodged regarding the promises made and results delivered by a label who would be OUT OF BUSINESS already we hadn't been able to continually earn the trust of the rock and metal bands we're PROUD to continue with in the coming years:

Positive Feedback from Ozzy Osbourne Tribute (released July, 2012) Bands:

"I think its a killer package. Looking forward to the other ones. I like the booklet." - Fierce Atmospheres

"Got the CDs...They look and sound great!" - Santagata

"Got the Ozzy cds, just so you know, they look fantastic!" - Leaving Eden

"It came out really well and happy with the outcome." - Shadow God

"They look great!" - Kingshifter

"The CD looks great!" - Sage4

"The Ozzy tribute came today! Sounds good!" - Erling Solem

"I have to say, it was pretty awesome to see the band's name on the front cover!" - Matanuska

"Received them this morning mate, they look awesome." - Kinoath, Australia

"I have the album, thanx!!!!! Cool work in the booklet." - Riffuz

Positive Commentary from Van Halen Tribute Featured Bands:

"Finished product looks fantastic and sounds good too. Quite a few strong tracks on the disc. I was pleased with our layout as the printing and photo work looks very crisp in the insert. Overall very pleased with the tribute CD!" - Iconic Tonic

"Looks/sounds great and very professional. I really appreciate the liner notes you included for each band. I was surprised on how many really good sounding renditions are the CD as I expected a lot of filler but there's some really cool stuff on there. We honored to be a part of
it!"- FAN HALEN

"Some great standouts... I'm fond of tribute records, as you can either be amazed by someone's take on a track or be reminded how particularly adept the honored band is because it's so hard to pull off a cover. Definitely more hits than misses on this one, it's interesting how
many vocalists... truly sound a lot like DLR!" - Electric Sister

"We just want to thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of the Van Halen Tribute Album "Take Your Whiskey Home". We think everything came out great." - Fair Warning

"Over all nice!" - Steve Pugh

"Got 'em! It all  sounds great! Thank you!" - Lee Thompson

"Leaving Eden just wanted to let you know that we loved the Van Halen CD it was a pleasure recording on it we listened to all the songs we thought that they sounded great we think the artwork looks awesome the layout is cool we also feel that the quality of the recordings a very good as well" - Leaving Eden

All bands quoted here both received their promo CDs and were happy with the final product, as we hope fans are as well... We will continue to respond to this kind of small pool of unfortunate misunderstandings over many years of business, and looking forward, hope to help as many more new bands as possible reach the retail market where its becoming harder and harder for them to do so... There is a universe of amazing talent out there, new talent, that proudly fuels our fires and hopefully, we continue to get the opportunity to bring new rock and metal to fans in 2013 and beyond! The CD we contributed to came out long ago. We have not received any copies as promised. We are located in BC, Canada and were told that they tried to send it to our address a few times! Tried? That doesn't make much sense.

This is our business address which we have used for the past 15 years!! We receive tons of mail and packages nationwide without issues.

If in fact, if Versailles Records were to have mailed us CD's, there would have been notification at our postal outlet.

If the shipping is that much of an issue, they should have the decency to at least EMAIL bands that are not located in the United States an MP3 of the CD!!!!!

I strongly advise any musicians considering contributing to this endeavor, to reconsider. You will have much more success on your own using social media networks.

A pack of lies... everyone got their cds in Canada, it took longer to pay for the freight, but everyone them...

Note first how this individual didn't even identify themselves. If a website like this allows people to file complaints- public and potentially libelous complaints- about companies like ours who barely even break even on these compilations to try and help new bands get out into the market, and for the $50 or $60 fee we charge (which guarentees a spot on the cd, retail exposure most would NEVER otherwise get given the current climate in the industry toward indie bands, a color photo and bio in the cd booklet, and promo cds upon release- which more than make up the cost of the fee), it more than pays for itself. Now, when we then have to ship those cds up to Canada, it eats up almost half the fee, and takes a bit longer to get product in sometimes as well when retail stocking is the priority, which is what happened here. I'm not even sure which compilation this gentleman is allegedly referring too since he left so much information out, but his cds were mailed. If they did not arrive, he made no attempt to notify us, just posted this report publicly and potentially exposed himself to a slander charge. Anyway, we wouldn't go that far, but this is nonsense, we do many compilations of these sorts, and do our best to get everyone their product based on the address information provided, 95% of the time there isn't a problem, and when there is, stock is re-sent promptly upon contact, which this individual never made, whoever they are?? Anyway, we felt compelled to reply, but this is a tough business for everyone right now, and we're just trying to stay afloat and keep product out there that pleases rock fans old and new, and clearly this gentleman doesn't appreciate the opportunity he was extended by appearing on a national retail release, especially for such a nominal fee. Many labels charge MUCH more per song, and don't offer the pic/bio even in the booklet, let alone the promos... Hope everyone has a happy fourth. If whoever posted this slanderous and false claim wants to contact us PRIVATELY to resolve it, that's fine, otherwise, we'll consider the issue addressed. If any future posts of this sort appear, legal action will follow accordingly for libel and slander.
