When researching our options for Obama Care (Afforadable Health Care) we were contacted by a lady named Amber stating the had health care plans(PPO Plans) for under $300.  When we contacted them we were swithched over to a Broker.  We were told about a plan where we my husband would be able to continue to see his regular doctor and we were told it would probably cost him about $25 when he goes.  When asked who the carrier was (I had though I heard them say Atena) and the conversation slowly got turned to where I was never told who the carrier was.  When asked about if this fell into the Obama Care I was told there would be probably a 2% tax and they were not financial advisors and could not tell me anything else but they would be saving us well over $1000. 

It all sounded like it was ligit and a health care plan so we agreed.  After getting off the phone, and when we received the e-mail, I got on line to check out the company only to learn it was not a PPO or health care plan.  We immediately called to cancel and were able to do the Perennial part but told to cancel the rest (dental, prescription, vision, wellness) we had to call the other number.  We called the number and were told we were going to have to call on Monday because that part was now closed.  We were also told that our first mistake was reading reviews on the internet and we were making a big mistake.  When we called back Monday it was almost an arguement to cancel the rest and they told us we would not be getting back the enrollment fee and it would be 3 to 5 days before we would get it back.  They were also going to automatically deduct charges from our checking account that I did not authorize and I asked them about that and they said nothing else would be taking out of my account.  They are very deceptive and unclear about the program and what it really is.

Unified Caring Association (UCA) is dedicated to total client satisfaction and we deeply regret that you do not feel that you received the appropriate service.  Feeling good about what you purchased is our highest priority and we apologize that this has not been achieved.  We strive to exceed expectations with our customers.  As a policy and in practice, the UCA is committed to addressing and resolving all issues.

 

Perennial Care is a Unified Caring Association membership. Memberships contain various consumer savings benefits including both insurance and non-insurance benefits.  We do everything possible to let you know that the memberships are NOT ACA (Affordable Care Act) compliant.  We do give our members 30 days to look over their memberships and if not satisfied you can cancel and receive a full refund. UCA memberships are sold by independent licensed agents. Often, these agents sell other products in addition to the UCA association membership. This appears to be your case.  We are sorry that you had a difficult time canceling the additional plans that you purchased but we can only cancel and refund the items that were charged by our company.  Because we cannot be sure which agent is involved, we cannot address this issue with them. If you can contact us, we can speak with the agent. Members should be able to discontinue and cancel the additional products with ease.

I'd file my own report but essentially it'd be copying and pasting this one. 

The company that called was Health Solutions One operating [they said] out of Boca Raton, Florida. The only reason I spoke t them was that upon calling they said, "You recently indicated you were interested in learning more about your health care plan" and I had been doing just that. 

In hindsight I think that around this time of year [just before the deadline to be enrolled in the Affordable Care Act] that such a statement might apply to many people.

I was fooled into assuming it was related to my submission of information through healthcare.gov and when providing my info they quoted me with a bit less of a rate. I paid the initial premium and only when I received my welcome email did it include a lot of fine print and I realized I was scammed.

I was specifically told it was an insurance plan and that I could still see my current doctors [Kaiser] and that it was a zero-deductable, low rate, full covereage insurance plan. It was not.

I was able to have a fraud report filed with my bank and the funds were recovered and I feel bad for the people that learn about this only after they go and try to use it.
