On April 7th I won an Auction on Ubid "Customer Exchange" for an ATI Video Card. This Auction displayed the UBid Customer Protection Seal, and the VISA payment Logo, and no Point of Origin, which means we have some recourse from non-delivery of goods.

April 8th I was contacted by the Seller (Jeremy Space)to "Western Union" $150 +22 fees, $172 to "Romainia". At this point I sent the money, not wanting to be a "NON-PAYING BIDDER" (The worst thing on an auction site).

I have of couse recieved nothing, not even a tracking number, as promised from Jeremy.

Ubids "Customer Protection Plan" states that it has a $25 deductable, but does not cover "Wire" funds, or "Overseas" items. How am I to Know where these items that are listed on UBid are from, if it is not stated on the auction, and the seller changes the Payment Recieved?

I emailed UBid, and Thier response is that they don't have anything to do with these auctions. My Question "Why are they listed on their site, and why don't they tell the customers that they are totally unprotected?"

This is Their reply:

Thank you for contacting uBid. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced on lot number 525868597. uBid is not involved and does not participate in the transaction between buyers and sellers, and is not responsible for the behavior of buyers and sellers in the Consumer Exchange.

If there is a problem, here are some ways you can try to resolve the dispute after you have tried unsuccessfully to contact the seller:

Leave a rating - The Consumer Exchange rating system allows other users to leave ratings and comments about their experiences. If you have had a poor experience with another member of the Consumer Exchange, leave a rating to let other members know about your experiences. If a buyer or seller accumulates several negative ratings, they may be removed from participating in the Consumer Exchange. The rating system works only if you use it!

Quote: "At this point I sent the money, not wanting to be a "NON-PAYING BIDDER" (The worst thing on an auction site)." Don't give this a moment's concern when dealing on U Bid's site. U Bid has a plethera of "NON-SHIPPING SELLERS". Now THAT"S the worst thing on an auction site. U Bid has had previous sham sellers from Romania. I think the last batch of rip-offs were laptop computers. It is with extreme difficulty one can resolve problems with products from U Bid's "warehouse". As far as their "Consumer Exchange" and "Preferred Partners" formats, they're a revolving door of scam artists. Problem seller in these formats? Why, just change names. You will notice many sellers listed as "new seller". Duuuuh! U Bid has demonstrated a total lack of concern for policing their sellers or offering any type of assistance to their buyers. U Bid knows d**n well the sellers in Romania have a history of preying on the unsuspecting buyer. I guess it's no also no longer a concern of U Bid that their reputation will suffer. Their 'reputation' has been in the $hitter for some time now. Why worry?
