On 8/24/01 I reserved a 26' truck from U-Haul for a one-way move from Campton, NH. to Cincinnati, OH. I reserved the truck at Bristol Auto Care in Bristol, NH. and was to pick it up on 9/8/01. I was promised that the truck would be available at 8:30 AM.

On Friday 9/7/01 at about 4:30 PM I received a call from U-Haul's dispatcher telling me the truck had broken down some ware and would not be available. I asked if I could get a truck at a different location, but was told none where available any ware and to call back in the morning.

I called numerous times the next day (9/8/01) only to be told the same thing, that no trucks where available. Finally at about 2:30 I was told there was a truck available in Portsmouth, NH. about 120 miles away. I picked up the truck at Portsmouth U-Haul Center at 4:30, however after driving the truck a short distance I found the truck to be un-roadworthy, it could not reach highway speeds and was a hazard to drive. I believe they gave me the worst possible truck to get rid of it by sending it to Ohio. I stopped at the U-Haul Center in Concord, NH. and was told they had a new 26' truck. We exchanged trucks and I arrived hone at about 8:30 PM (12 hours after the time promised).

I had scheduled a local mover to provide 2 men to load the truck at 11:00 AM Saturday 9/8/01. When I first learned that there might be a delay I postponed the time to 1:00 PM, and when no truck was available I had to reschedule them for Sunday 9/9/01. The normal rate for such service is $20.00 per man-hour, however the rate for Sundays is $40.00 per man-hour. This caused me an extra $160.00. I believe U-Haul should reimburse me that amount since they failed to deliver a truck at the promised time.

To date I have spoken to Mathew Pepin, the District Manager in New Hampshire, who refused to consider my complaint.
