I drove 20 miles to purchase 4 items that were in a sales flyer that arrived in my paper. I arrive at the store to find that they don't have a single one of the four items advertised in the flyer. They had not had the items for a while. It wasn't like they had just sold out, because I arrived in the early morning hours. I was looking to use a gift card. I asked the manager for a refund for the giftcard since they had flat out placed false advertisements in the newspaper to attract customers. The manager (Tom) comes to the counter and just says no, rudely, and offers no explanation. "That's just the way it is." Two other customers in line were laughing at this individual. He was completely devoid of any semblence of interpersonal communication skill. The store was dirty. The shelves were disorganized. His employees were dressed like slobs. Register girl was wearing baggy droopy pants her boxers were showing, she had bed hair and spoke quietly with slurred speech. I was very nice to her though, as I new she was only a product of her leadership. I showed up to the store looking to spend $2500 dollars and left spending zero. I then spent the card on an online purchase.....I called relatives and directed them to send Wal-Mart gift cards instead. I was pleasently surprised to find that Wal-Mart had a far superior combination of price, selection, quality, and service. They lost a great customer.

Why would you expect a refund on a gift card? Were you given the card? If so you never paid for it, why would the company give you a cash refund. Besides, if you look on the terms and conditions of gift cards they are non-refundable. That goes for any company. Out of stocks happen. I worked years in retail, and they occur. You are being a bit harsh on a company for running out of stock on some items without knowing the whole story. Perhaps they were back ordered due to the sale they were having?
