Thompson Inc RCA Not a pleasant experience dealing with these people GA Marietta Georgia
This is one major convoluted company with who knows what all in the way of divisions. Anyway you click on the phones and this is the address for the company you get. That is what I did. I bought an RCA 25414RE3 multi-line telephone. It has a 2.5mm headset jack which was one of the features that drew it to me. Call the RCA number though and you get Thompson.
Now I buy everything except groceries online since I have no transportation and am retired. I get a feeling -- either pleasant or adverse -- when I call a company, whether it be for service or sales. With Thompson I sense that there isn't even a modest effort to be likeable. Like we got the product all sewed up and you gotta deal with us, sucka.
This underlying sense of arrogance was confirmed when I ordered a headset from them today. It says in the manual you need to buy their headset ONLY but I thought this was them being greedy. Headsets.com tried their very best to find a headset that would work with this phone but couldn't, so I finally gave in and dealt with Thompson.
Someone named Mitch took my order and quoted a total price of $34.59 and then charged $49.59 to my credit card. I called her back about the discrepancy and she said that was company policy to make sure the charge would go through. Obviously Thompson is so arrogant they think they can do whatever they please once they get your credit card information -- whether you authorized it or not. I guess they don't know or care that some people have a separate account for online purchases only and only move the money there as needed.
Now the next thing is to see if this headset is of professional quality and if not whether they jack me around about a return. I've already been told they have no warranty on it and only 30 days to return it if it isn't acceptable. Stay tuned (LOL) and if I have more hassles with this company I will be back with follow-ups.
