On 12/22/17, I applied online for financing with Texas National Auto Sales. A salesman named Edward called me and told me I was approved for a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. The same day I went by the dealership and test drove the vehicle. I was told to put $1000 down payment and I was able to take the vehicle. Allegedly the in-house mechanic checked out the vehicle and it was 'good to go'. On 12/24/17 in the evening my family and I were preparing to leave for our trip. When I tried to start the car it wouldn't start. All of the warning lights on the dashboard started flashing, the car started shaking, and eventually the interior lights went dim.

We attempted to jump start the vehicle, but the battery completely died. Due to the holiday, I wasn't able to contact dealership until 12/26/17. At that time I spoke with salesman Edward about the mechanical issue. He informed me that the mechanic would not be available until after January 1st and I would need to speak to Jorge, the manager and schedule a time to drop it off for service. After ending the call, my husband and I took the battery off the vehicle and to Auto Zone for testing. We were told that the battery needed to be charged for 2 hours prior to testing because it was completely dead. To hours later, Auto Zone informed us that the battery test was good.

The battery was placed on the vehicle and it started once again. On 12/31/17, the same issue again occurred with the vehicle, but this time the car started after several minutes. On 1/1/2018, the car again experienced the same exact issue. This time, however, the car would not start. My son removed the battery from the vehicle and charged it on a charger for an hour and a half. My son placed the battery on the vehicle but it still would not start. On 1/2/18, I contacted Edward at Texas National Auto Sales and explained the situation. I was told that Jorge would be calling me. Two hours passed and I did not hear anything so I left work and drive in my mother in law's car to the dealership.

I explained to Jorge my concerns and he told me to give him the chance to make this right. I revealed to him that I was starting to mistrust his dealership and not sure about going through with this purchase. He assured me that the mechanic would fix the issue. That day Edward and an older man identified as the mechanic came to my house and tried for about an hour to start the vehicle. Eventually the car started and was taken by them to the dealership. On 1/3/18 Jorge called me and said the mechanic checked everything out and they car was perfect. He found nothing wrong with it. He said, "It was low on fuel when we picked it up that is probably why it didn't want to start." I told him I disagreed.

I contacted the finance company and they backed out of the deal. Jorge is refusing to give me back the $1000 and is demanding an additional $1000 for TT&L. I told him I'm not buying the car and therefore don't owe anything. He told me if I didn't go through with the sale I would have a repo on my credit report. I told him that is a lie because I spoke with the finance company already. Jorge's final words to me were," If you don't pay the other $1000 then I guess I will just have to do what I have to do then, huh?" I replied," Do whatever you feel you have to do sir. Have a good day." I ended the call. Jorge never gave me copies of any contracts. Jorge only gave me a receipt for the $1000.
