My husband and I recently moved from Columbus, OH to Vancouver, WA. Prior to our move we had a reservation with Penske for a moving truck rental. My husband also surfed the web to compare prices and quotes for movers.

Out of the blue, we started receiving several voice-mails from Team USA moving INC. (Two from Jared Reigns, One from Ricky Ray)stating that they could meet our move dates. We decided to call them back & book it. They assured us that the move dates would be no problem. I was faxed several papers to sign, from LaTasha Mills. I signed them, with the assurance that my move dates would be no problem. I was then asked to put down a substantial deposit of $663.56, to get the wheels in motion.

We had the pick-up dates scheduled as Monday May 17th - Tuesday May 18th as the estimated window. We waited Monday & no one came. We waited Tuesday & no one came. Wednesday came & we called them. Jared was surprised that the movers were not there. He said that they should have arrived on Tuesday & gave us a number for the movers. It was then I realized that this was a moving broker & not the actual moving company that we were going through. We called the "actual" moving company & they told us that there was no way they could be there until Saturday, May 22nd.

Needless to say, we were supposed to be on the road, by Tuesday. We called Team USA Moving INC back, and spoke to Jared, and told him what the movers told us. He kept insisting that they will be there Wednesday. This went back & forth between Us, Team USA, & the actual movers (Modern Moving). I was so upset that I asked to speak to a supervisor with Team USA. Jared got Tina on the phone. She basically read us the riot act, for trying to book a move, with such a little window. In fact, she said it was our fault for not planning it out more in advance. My contention is, that They Called Us. We didn't call them. When they called us, they said there would be no problem in meeting these dates, which we have in writing. Tina was very billigerent, and said she was not going to give any of our deposit back, because they are not responsible for our poor planning & they have up to 4 days to pick up the stuff, before they are in breach of contract.

Well, we talked to the actual movers (Modern Movers) and they told us that they may be able to get the stuff on Thursday May 20th, but if not they would definately be there by Saturday May 22nd. They told us on the phone (Dwight from Modern Movers) that he wished people would never go through these brokerage firms, because they are a scam. He apologized to us, and told us there was nothing he could do, because he had several pick-ups before us. We then called Team USA back, and talked to Shane Mahabir. He was very apologetic & asked what he could do to fix it. We told him that we wanted our deposit back from him & cancel the move. He said that he wanted to make it right with us & faxed us a letter that states Team USA apologizes for the delay.

Once our items are picked up & weighed, that they will then determine the compensation amount. He asked us to work with him to get this move accomplished. We decided that my Mother would stay with our stuff, and wait for the pick-up. She also, had to clean the apartment, which we were unable to do, because our things were everywhere. We went ahead & left Wednesday night, to drive to Washington. Since we arrived here, we were in constant communication with my Mother. Our stuff was not picked up from Ohio until Monday May 24th, which is well past the promised date. Modern Movers told my Mother, that the items would be dropped off in a Michigan warehouse, then in turn picked up & driven out here.

I had to be at my week long wilderness school on May 28th. My husband stayed behind, and left several messages with Team USA Moving & Modern Movers. Neither company returned any messages that he left. He left messages at Team USA, Modern Movers & Modern Movers dispatcher, all with no response. I came back from my school on June 5th. I was furious that our items were not here yet, and that no one had called us back.

Finally today, June 8th, I was able to get through to Modern Movers. I spoke with Dennis the dispatch manager. He told me that my items were still in a Michigan warehouse and that the soonest they would be loaded is June 9th. He said that my delivery would possibly leave on Friday June 11th. He also mentioned that there were several deliveries booked before mine and had no estimated time of delivery. I asked if it were possible to have my mother drive to Michigan and retrieve my possessions. Dennis told me that it would cost me $500. I then called Team USA Moving. I spoke with Anthony. He was very patronizing. He kept rereading the contract to me and told me that they are not in breach of contract because it has not been 30 days yet since my pick up date.

However, there is nothing in the contract nor was there any verbal discussion of the 30 day window. Anthony told me that there is absolutely no way that Team USA will refund my deposit because they held up their end of the contract. He told me that if I wanted to cancel my order and have my mother pick up my belongings that I would be in breach and would still owe the entire original amount. After I told him I felt my only option was to obtain legal counsel, Anthony then said that he wanted to help me and that he hated to hear a woman be so upset. However, Anthony was unwilling to budge on anything and continued to blame Modern Movers for any "inconvience". Now I'm looking for other options....
