Straight Talk BYOP is a complete ripoff!!! This company claims that you can bring almost any phone from almost any carrier such as Sprint, Verizon , ect.  As long as its elligible, and you will be able to switch to there service with no problem. First you need to see if your phone is elligible by visiting ther web site and typing in a little information about your phone and where you live, which is what i did. I was sent to screen that said Congradulations your phone is elligible followed by instructions on how to switch my phone over and enjoy my new service. So i drove down to walmart and made the 60 dollar purchase for a activation kit and my first months service. Before i opened the package i noticed it had a specific list of phones that would not work with there service. Mine not being one of them i started to worry about if this would really work. I double checked on there website just to make sure my phone would work because once i open the package i would not be able to return it. Once again I was told yes my phone would work. So I opened the package and followed the instructions. I did not get very far though. I didnt make it past the first screen before i encountered my first problem. I was told they did not offer service in my area. How could that be when no more than 45 minutes ago when i entered the area I lived in it said they did. So i figured I must be doing something wrong. I made the call to a customer service rep. who said he would try to get me set up. After about 20 minutes I was told my phone was not eligible!!!! How could that be when i was told by there web site that I was. This man had no answers on why that was and all he could do was give me a diffrent number to call along with a case number. The next day I tried again and was able to get a little further only this time it took my phone along with both codes i needed to start service and then told me it was unable to activate my phone. Now at this point not only can I not use the phone I was told I could, but now I have used a months worth of service on a phone that is not activated. So I called again this time I as told that my phone was accepted and it should be on within the hour. After an hour and a half I still had no service, so I called again. This time I was told that my phone was activated and was the months service on it but for some reason there system could not establish a link to my phone. The same phone I was told was able to be used. Once again i receved a number to call along with another case numberand was told to call back in 48 hours. How can you sell something that you are unable to do!!! I decided to do some research on this topic and found that im not the only one that has fell into there trap. This seems to be a regular problem with this company, and if this ends up the same way that it did for everyone else I will be out 60 dollars and nothing I can do about it. Stay away from straight talks byop program it is a scam.
