Complaint Review: Saban's Rent a Car LLC. - Phoenix Arizona

Traveling from out of town, I called Phoenix Car Rental to rent a small car for 1 week. They quoted me $188.41 which included rental plus tax. I asked if they can pick me up from the airport when I arrive and drop me back off after my trip. They said yes. I also specifically asked if there were any other fees, hidden fees, extra charges, etc. The guy said no.

When I arrived in Phoenix at 9:30am, I called them and a guy came to pick me up from the airport. At their office, a guy handed me paperwork to sign which was barely filled out. I didn't understand the scribbles on the paperwork so I varified once again the total cost of the rental ($188.41) and he said yes. He ran my credit card through the old fashion card swiper without the amount written in. He then gave me the keys to an old car which had over 101K miles and only 1/8 tank of gas. I was told to bring it back with the same amount of gas.

A week later, I returned the car with 1/8 tank of gas that I carefully had to calculate to make sure I don't give them more than what they gave me. In the office, not paying attention to the amount they charged me, I picked up the paperwork and they took me back to the airport for my flight back home again around 9:30am.

I received my credit card bill about 2 weeks later, and to my surprise, they charged me $250. I called Saban's Rent a Car to find out why they over charged me. They told me to call accounting. I called accounting and the woman told me that I was charged for extras. I told her it's not correct as I varified multiple times that there were no extra charges. She said she can't do anything for me and I should call a guy name Pete at Saban's. I called and got the runaround along with a couple of different phone numbers.

Finally I got a hold of Pete, and that's when ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE! As soon as I told him that I was questioning the charge, it's was like someone flipped a switch on him. He became real nasty, started yelling at me, screaming "I don't know who you are lady" and that I signed the paperwork and that's all there is to it. I was so taken back by his attitude, I was trying calmly to explain to him why I was calling. He kept SCREEMING at me telling me to "shut up!". The man turned completely into a RAGING lunatic. Definately a PSYCHO!!! I couldn't get any information from him and finally I told him that I will be reporting him all over the internet and that's when he hung up on me. Judging by the reaction of their accounting office and Saban's, they do this ALL the time and they must get these calls often from people questioning charges.

After this fiasco, I immediately called Visa to dispute the charges. A couple more weeks later, Visa sent me a letter with paperwork they got from Saban's showing all the charges that I signed for. I of course never saw this copy of paperwork from Saban's because most of this information wasn't filled in on my copy of the paperwork because they filled in all those charges later. They showed charges of the week's rental, tax, surcharge ($198), cleaning charges ($12), after hours airport pick up & drop off ($12+$20)??? 9:30am is after hours??, something called pkg ($3) & s/c ($2.50). Thank god I didn't add an extra driver on to my rental (as they were trying to get me to do that) because that would have been another $3.00 per day. I told Visa that my copy of paperwork was different and they told me that I wasn't able to do anything because I signed the paperwork. However Visa did refund my pick up/drop off charge on THEIR expense in good faith being that I'm a good customer.

So DON'T rent a car from these people!!!!!! They WILL rip you off!!
