I purchased a Pool from Rec Whse Two Years ago and the ladder never stayed stationary from day one. I went back and they told me I needed to buy Sand Bags to hold the ladder in place.

I asked if they had any in stock I was told not at the time to check back. I checked back several time over the first year (Ended up using a Bag of rocks which made the water cloudy). They never told me that they do not carry Sand Bags or that their was a problem with the ladder . A year later the process begins again, but this time I am told that I need to go to a hardware store and get Sand Bags to anchor the ladder. I paid nearly $3000 for this pool but apperently not for customer service.

While trying to find Sand Bags I find someone with a pool exactly like the one I purchased only to learn that the ladder should not float and don't require an anchor (Sand Bags).

I have a defected ladder- Rec shame on you.

Searched everywhere and found that you cannot purchase sand bags locally unless a disaster occurs.

And if it was true and this ladder had required Sand Bags they should have come with the pool (or at least carry the bags).

Ladders that float have simple solution

#2Consumer Suggestion

Plastic ladders provided with most pools these days only float if the water intake holes are missing or clogged up. When these ladders are placed in the pool it should be after water is in pool. Holes on the bottom of the ladder allow water to fill in the ladder giving it weight. There should also be air holes near the top to allow the water to rise in easily. Don't let anyone tell you that you should sand bag. Salesperson had to be an idiot. If you still have this ladder and can't find the holes, drill in a few. Hope this works for you.

Sand bagged by sand bags

I'll just make this simple. My wife and I bought a pool from rec warehouse. We installed it ourselves and any time I needed advise the manager at the Greensboro location was more than happy to talk to me on the phone. Now about your sand bags. Our pool kit came with a ladder. It is actually a staircase in the pool. In that box there were two sand bags and I wondered, "Hmmmm, what are these for?" We found out. We only put one under the 'stair' part of the ladder and it works just fine. One last question, why did you go a whole season with a floating ladder? Wal-Mart has sand bags for $1.99 each.

Customer service?

I'm trying to see how you we're treated improperly. You did not receive a defected ladder. Every ladder for above ground pool requires some kind of anchor. Sand works well and every pool store will tell you the same thing. Shame on you for attempting to ruin the name of a company when there was nothing wrong done. If you paid $3000 for the pool you actually received a bag inside of the box for this very reason to put sand in it...

How did you receive "Bad customer service"?

I'm trying to figure this one out. You went back to the store, and they told you exactly what is told to every other customer that calls in about the same situation. And your still upset? They told you what to do, but I would use the bagged rocks. They do not make your water cloudy, improper water chemistry, probably low Ph level, makes your water cloudy. You do have to weight the steps down to keep them from floating. Also, you have to attach the steps to the top rail of the pool to keep it from shifting around. With none of these done for 2 years now, you probably have worn a hole in the liner from the steps sliding around. It is also a good idea to put a bath mat or some sort of barrier between the steps and the liner, as a precaution. The store hasn't neglected you or your concern, you just didn't know what to do. As just about all first time pool owners don't know. So, before you bash a company, ask around, contact other pool companies in the area that carry steps like yours or equivalent, and see how they anchor their steps to pools.
