Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Having had threats made against me by the local manager of Public Storage, I should not have been surprised at the latest trick and chicanery perpetrated by this disreputable company, but when I went online to pay my monthly storage bill, I was. astonished: for the second time in less than a year, this company has raised rates - this time by more than 30% and without the required written notice. Upon phoning the company HQ to inquire about this unauthorized increase, I encountered a multi-layered machination in the automated phone system which is obviously designed to so frustrate callers that they will give up before ever reaching "customer service" (an oxymoron of the first order). When finally connected to a person and telling him that (a) I had experienced the 2nd rent increase in less than a year and that (b) the required written notice was never received. The "customer service" representative became overly defensive and stated that notice was sent and proceeded to read off the address FROM WHICH I HAD MOVED. I had provided CURRENT address information more than 18 months ago, along with CURRENT phone information, but Public Storage apparently has never had an opportunity to input the corrected data and update its records.

The company is NOT an honorable business entity; the company's "customer service" department is trained to assert the evident company policy that the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS WRONG; the onsite managers are SCARY individuals (I had to call the police on one who was threatening me); the company is operated as if it were (and perhaps it IS) an organized-crime entity. I believe the underlying philosophy of this company is antithetical to any code of conduct common to the service industry to which it portrays itself to be a member and that the business should be investigated thoroughly, steps should be taken to shut it down, and customer reviews be made known public instanter - someone is going to be injured physically (as well as financially) by this company and its representatives. This goes beyond "caveat emptor"!
