Pizza Hut overcharging Sales Tax Hackensack New Jersey
I have been ordering delivery of pizza with Pizza Hut located at 53-55 Essex St. Hackensack, NJ 07601. They have been overcharging me compared to the advertised prices on the published coupons.
The first time I challenged that the $7.99 (price)+ $0.48 (NJ sales tax) equals $8.47 and not $9.53. The sales person talked to the manager and agreed to accept $8.47. On a second occassion I phoned in I was told that the 6% sales tax on $7.99 comes to $1.54 and refused to correct the price. On Saturday May 15, 2004 I placed an order over the phone for a $7.99 (with a coupon) and was charged $9.53.
When I objected I was told that I was being charged $1.06 extra for the delivery. I was shocked as the published coupon does not tell that the price for a delivery was different. I used to live in a neighboring town where a different Pizza Hut store never levied delivery charges.
