Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have had many problems with this automotive chain. The ONLY reason I go back to them is b/c of the warranties that are supposed to be accompanying the parts and service I received. However I have found that this is also not true. In Aug. of 2001 I went to Pep Boys and they replaced my alternator. Now it is Nov. only 3 and a half months later and my car is broke. I took it to them and at first I was told that my car needed a battery before a charging system test could be done. This was purchased and placed in.

After a few minutes I was told that the car would run but the test will still not complete its run. The person looking at the car said that he could not find a wire to test the one or two last connections. The person in charge, Sam, told me that it had to stay over night and the tech would do a system test in the morning to determine the cause and they would call me.

Well I never received this call on Friday until 5:30pm. I was there at 6 anyway to check on it. I was told then that the only problem was that I needed a new battery and now that it was installed everything was fine. I asked to see the test results and these could not be provided. As I drove away I heard something very wrong with my back brakes and they had recently been fixed 2 months earlier. I let Sam know about this and he informed me that "My tech drove it from the bay to the lot and he did not hear anything". Outside when we were speaking with the tech he said that he drove it and he DID hear that noise before. At this point I was told that they have a free brake inspection. So I left it there again, the second day now, to finish the brake inspection. I never received a call on Sat. when this was completed either and had to just show up to check if it was done. I was told that nothing was wrong with the brakes but they gave me a list of recommendations. I was also given a list of test results for the previous day.

When I drove my car again, strangely enough the brake noise was gone. Hmmmmmm. So now it is 3 days later and my car has died on the side of the road again with the same problems. So if it was ONLY my battery why is this happening again? I called the store and spoke to Sam who told me that I was informed that an electrical test was needed and I apparently denied the work. However I was told Thur. that the test could not be run and the tech would have to come in Fri. morning to preform this. This was the person who said that it was just the battery.

I requested that they pay for my tow back to the shop and have the repairs done. He told me that they were not responsible for any of this that happened. Now I am trying to get phone numbers for Managers and Corp. locations and this is not available.

I am only told that I can leave a VM and the person will get back to me. I asked the rep. I spoke with for her supervisor and she said that he was not available and I needed to leave a message. I told her this was very poor customer service and I wanted to speak with someone higher than her. She said all I could do was leave a message and then she transferred me.

I am very unhappy with this establishment and when this ordeal is finished I will NEVER go back to Pep Boys. I will also make sure to let everyone I meet that needs repairs know about this story and to not got to Pep Boys.
