Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We ordered a custom dump trailer from Jimmy Odell of Odells Trailers in Largo, Florida a few months ago. He calls us and tells us it is almost ready. We come by and go over the details that we originally discussed. We also asked for some additional changes. Jimmy all of a sudden starts telling my friend that he did not agree to the terms he agreed upon as far as the original agreement. My client comes in on Friday afternoon and discusses the changes. My client left and said he would be back Monday. We call on Monday morning and the trailer was sold. My friend's company purchased 10 trailers from Odells over the years.

Their response to this was we just had a guy buy 30 trailers and we don't need your business. We sell trailers all over the country and we don't need you. Jimmy Odell hurt my friends business. I believe he had this trailer sold before my client had discussed the final changes. The dump trailer was sold by Monday morning and they are closed on the weekends. If you do the math, the trailer was sold minutes after my friend walked away, even though he said he would be back on Monday. My client made a verbal agreement to pick up the trailer on the 4th of September and Jimmy agreed. I can only guess that Odells sold the trailer for more money.

My client has had serious issues that can cause serious injury and possibly a major accident with some of his trailers. The most recent purchase was two years ago. Possibly within the first year, there were two issues where some of the leaf springs simply fell off one side of the trailer. My client always had to pay something to get the issue fixed. Make sure you get a warranty in writing. I am very surprised O'dells trailers can treat a long time customer this way. For some reason, this family business could care less about you the customer. If you ask questions or have some type of miscommunication, they tell you we don't need your business.

This business attitude will catch up to them someday. In my opinion, I can't prove this, but, I think Jimmy Odell received quite a bit more money for this trailer and decided to use this excuse to sell it. This is just unethical in my opinion. You cannot live on your past reputation forever. It's great that they are so busy that they can tell you what they think without worry of consequence, no matter how unethical a business can be. Eventually, people will have enough of there rudeness and unprofessional behavior. I encourage all unhappy Odells Trailers to post your thoughts on this company. They are as trustworthy as a used car lot. There is a lot more to this story. More to come.
