Nigerian I have money to invest in the US Scam ripoff
Besides the Nigerian 'oil' scams. There are an increasing number of "I need help investing millions in the U.S." emails. Of course, these are scams too, where they will ultimately demand a 'good faith' deposit, before releasing the mythical millions of dollars to your control.
While one is tempted to just erase it, or email back a string of dirty words, we beleive they should have their chance. So Investor Data Exchange members are emailing back version of this letter. It's kind of fun imaganing them grinding their teeth.
The original scam letter is posted below the response.
Dear Mr. Egobia,
This is your lucky day.
I am a member of Investor Data Exchange, which consists
of thousands of investors in the U.S. and abroad, set up
to protect it's members from the numerous internet scams,
and to find good investing opportunities for them.
But this is a private club and access to investing opportunities
are restricted by law, only to IDE club members.
To become a member go to www.investordataexchange.com
download the information to apply for membership and mail
the completed form to the coordinates listed on the website.
You may pay your membership dues by cash, money order,
check, or credit card credit card.
With such a large sum to invest $295 (USD) is well worth
obtaining professional help in managing such a large sum
of investment money.
After you have proven your sincerity by becoming an IDE
member please call Mr. Bernie Bicoy at the toll free number on the website, and he will be happy to design an investment plan that will match your specific investing goals.
You were very lucky to contact me before you fell prey to one of the many, many con men on the on the internet, looking to ripoff innocent persons, such as yourself.
