We purchased a white sofa sectional and purchased the furniture warranty. On February 12, 2018 my four year old son sat up against our fire place grate and then on the couch and transferred fireplace ash or soot from his clothing to the couch seat cushion and couch seat back. I took the pictures and sent the paperwork to Montage as required. They scheduled me for an appointment with their furniture cleaner for March 23, 2018, 39 days after the incident took place.

I called back in an attempt to have an alternative company come to clean the furniture through Montage and they scheduled me for March 1, 2018. I was given a 3 hour window. The service provider showed up with 15 minutes remaining in my window and stated that he would not have the time to clean the furniture because he had a delivery to make in Northern New Jersey that same day and he was late.  He came in and took pictures of the stains. I was told I would receive feedback, as this needed additional approval from Montage prior to rescheduling within 5 days. After multiple phone calls over the course of the next three weeks, Montage finally got back to me and denied the claim stating "the information provided to us indicates that your Covered Product has a level of soiling or damage that is not a result of accidental damage or handling, but rather is at a level that has built up over time." This is after over a month and a half of trying to get them to clean the couch.

How can a statement be made that this was an accumulation over time as this would be an opinionated response made without factual biased after such a long period of time. My assumption is that Montage will now no longer honor my warranty, even though this couch is less than one year old.  I would recommend to any consumer to think twice before spending the extra money on a Montage warranty as they will not honor the purchase agreement.  I will be contacting both the furniture store with regards to this situation and my attorney. Just wanted others to be aware of this fraudulent practice implemented by Montage Furniture Servicing.
