I hired Molloy Brothers Moving, an affiliate of Mayflower Moving (the national moving company) in late December 2007. The reason I chose Molloy over the rest was that their rates were slightly lower than Allied Van Lines, their main competitor, and I thought based on their representation (or should I say misrepresentations) that I could rely on them.

The moving company promised me that the movers would be at my condominium by 3 pm of the moving day. When they did not arrive by 3pm, I called Molloy and was told that they were in the neighborhood and would be there in a few minutes. They kept feeding me this garbage line hour after hour until they closed. The movers did not show up at my place until 9pm! at night! These series of lies and misrepresentations should have told me that I could not rely on these guys to move my stuff , but being that I needed to move to Florida ASAP, I had no choice but to let them in rather than find another moving company.

From the moment they set foot in my house Molloy's movers were rude and careless. Their supervisor told me that his men were not happy about coming to my place this time of night and if I gave them each a $20 tip, they would be ok with moving my stuff. Can you imagine the gaul?!?! to want a tip after showing up 6 hours late!

Then one mover said his wife called him on his cell phone and he had to go home, so he went out to sit in the truck while the other two began moving my stuff. When they came to moving my office desk, one mover attempted to pick the desk up by himself and move it down three flights of stairs by sliding it down each stair. He attempted to do this while he had a cigarette in his mouth and dropped cigarette ashes on my floors. Needless to say, the desk did not make it to the bottom of the stairs, but shattered on the way down.

I had approximately 50 totes that I had packed and taped shut, rather than pick up the totes and move them down stairs to the truck, one mover stood on the balcony and begin dropping the totes off of the balcony down to his co-worker below. When I asked them to stop moving my stuff this way, they ignored me and kept doing the move haphazardly and as if they were being imposed upon by moving my stuff.

The last pieces to be moved was my bed and box spring. Again, rather than carry these items down the stairs, they began dropping it off the balcony to their co-workers below. The mover who was handing down the box spring lost control and the box spring hit a stair well right and knocked it off its housing. The box spring hit the concrete sidewalk below and made a loud cracking sound.

The movers finally finished around 11 pm and as they left I noticed that there was a cigarette burn in my bedroom carpet where they had been moving my bed and television. I don't smoke and never had anyone in my condo who smoked. They attempted to cover up the cigarette burn by placing an empty cardboard box over where the cigarette had burned through my carpet. When I told them about the cigarette burn, they told me not to worry and that was what their insurance was for. They then told me that they wanted to make sure that all of my stuff got to Florida and intact and a tip would help that go along way. I felt intimidated as they stood there (the three of them) staring at me and I felt that if I did not pay this bribe my stuff would be lost or stolen, so I gave them $40 out of fear and intimidation.

When they called me about delivering my belongings, I was told by Molloy that my belonging would arrive in about 10 ten days by 3 pm in the afternoon. When my stuff arrived in Florida, again at 9pm at night, I had lost a half day's work waiting for the movers. This time the original supervisor had a new worker with him. They began unloading my stuff and piling it up in the living room and bedroom. When they unwrapped the television, I notice that the top of the tv was cracked in half, the dining glass table was chipped, the office desk was nowhere to be found as the supervisor said the rest of it had fallen apart on the way down. As I unpacked the rest of my stuff over the next few days, I noticed that an antigue vase that had been packed in two feet of bubble wrap and packed in two boxes had shattered. Some of my belongings were missing and it appeared that the totes that I had taped shut had been opened and rifled through.

When I filed a claim with Molloy, I received a response from Rosemary Menghi, the Vice President of "Quality" (what a joke!) that they would pay me $54 for the damages (over $1400) which I had received solely as a result of their willful negligence and intentional disregard for my property. Imagine how thick these people are to offer me $54 dollars after damaging and breaking my property, burning cigarette holes in my carpet, breaking my hall way light, arriving late on pickup and delivery, and intimidating me for tips!!!!!!

Molloy Brothers Mayflower is a fraud! I have never seen such incompetence, carelessness, or inability to do simple things right. Unless you want to lose 3 times as much as the cost of your belongings, do not under any circumstances use this company for any moving. The other report on this site is correct, Molloy has a routine and consistent habit and practice of lying, cheating, and damaging customers and their property. I will be filing complaints with the New York attorney general's office, the New York and New Jersey departments of consumer affairs, among other public and private consumer protection agencies and I am currently considering filing a class action lawsuit against Molloy Brothers Mayflower.

Ms. Menghi is wrong. My claim was not resolved. I was offered a pittance of $48 by her company to cover my $1400+ in damages. She is lying when she tells you that my claim was settled. Since December of 2007, I have received nothing but lies and callous treatment by this sorry excuse for a moving company. My claim as of this date is still not resolved.

As a long established family owned company for over 45 years, we have pursued excellence in customer service since our formation. We regret that Mr.Kourosh was unhappy with the services provided to him as part of his relocation to Florida. However, after a full investigation into the matter, interviewing the driver and his helpers and a thorough review of his paperwork, we categorically deny and refute all of the observations and allegations contained in his story submitted. We believe it to be inaccurate and misrepresentative of the actual events surrounding his relocation. It is our position that he is free to pursue whatever legal courses he chooses and we are confident that upon review by an independent authority we will be vindicated. As to his damage claim, Mr. Koursh's claim was resolved based on the coverage he choose on his move. Since Mr. Kourosh is unhappy with the resolution of his claim, we have forwarded the matter to Mayflower Corporate headquarters for their review of the decision taken in the matter. Molloy Bros. has a long and positive history of providing excellent customer service throughout the tri-state area. As an agent for Mayflower Transit, we have striven to provide outstanding customer support and problem resolution. We stand confident in our position that Mr. Kourosh's story is inaccurate and does not reflect the actual course of events that occurred durhing his relocation. Very truly yours, Rosemary Menghi, Vice President Administraiton/Quality Assurance
