Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
It is my opinion that I didn't like the experience of purchasing a used car from Midwest Motorsports. I thought that the salesman, Don Shaffer, was deceptive as he led me to believe that he was the owner of the company. I thought it to be a lie that he left me a message on my cell phone that they were "fixing" my car with no out of pocket costs to me.

I thought that Tom Langenberg the owner of the company was unprofessional as he held my paperwork for 2 months until I finally contacted the state of Michigan's secretary of state to get my paperwork done. I thought that not returning phone calls to me was unprofessional. In my opinion, they are not honest and lack class and integrity.

I thought that their business practices were deceptive as they spoke of promises to fix the car they sold to me. It is of my opinion that they should keep good on their spoken promises to fix a vehicle that was represented as reliable that is not.

I thought I was dealing with truthful and honest people.

I think that the state of Michigan should hold used car dealers responsible for their spoken promises. I think that legislation that our previous elected officials put into effect should be changed to protect the consumer.

In my opinion, I made a mistake dealing with such a deceptive company.

In my opinion, which is my constitutional right, they are not a good company to do business with.

So after sending Tom the information on the car (the car fax that I should have pulled or asked for in the first place,) he has said that he will take care of the situation with the car.  I will update at a later date to give details on what was done with this.

February 12, 2010 Tom Langenberg called and wanted to make amends.  It has been since May 2009 that we picked up the car.  I sent him information on where the car is as we are out of money to put into it.  Why should I believe him?  We will see if he does anything.  The ball is in his court.

So after our car sat at the used car rip offs for over 8 weeks, we picked up our vehicle and towed it to a reputable mechanic. Both Don Shaffer and Tom Langenberg lied to us about fixing the car. The salesman, Don Shaffer, lied to us still yet some more about not having the paperwork when we were picking up the car. He also lied about pushing the car to where it was sitting because you don't need a chain on a tow hook in the front of the car when you are pushing it from the rear. They use words like "dependable" and low mileage, but our Corolla we purchased has over 140K on it from the car fax that we purchased. And yeah, it was dependable for 3 days. When you pay $2800 for a car you would expect to get at least a year of dependability out of it. After we figured out how to put the car in neutral, we paid Tom and Lori Langenberg a visit at their home with signs in the window that the car was our "dependable" purchase from Midwest Motorsports to get the registration for the car as it was not in it. They didn't have it and called Don and he faxed a copy of the RD108 receipt. So who is lying? Nice people say what they are going to do and do what they say. Neither was the case in this story. Hard lesson learned, but we will never trust another used car salesman as the barrel has been spoiled by these rotten apples.

Well, well, well. Used car dealers do live up to their reputations. We picked up our car from Midwest Motorsports on Saturday, May 9, 2009 after it sat there for over 8 weeks as they NEVER fixed it as they said they would. Leaving messages on my cell phone stating that they were going to fix the car and they never intended to do anything. Shame on them. The wiper blades were gone off from the car when we got there and we had to figure out how to get it out of park but all is intact, or so we hope. Our reputable technician will tell us. Who knows what else is gone off from the car as the salesman, Don Shaffer, is at the top of Liars Class 101. When my husband, Mike, went into get the key that Don said he would leave in the car and to find out where the registration was, he sat down when Mike introduced himself. He sat in his chair and attempted to provoke Mike, but Mike is a bigger man than that. He lied through his teeth about pushing the car to where it was as we found a chain on the left front tow hook of the vehicle. Funny you need a chain on the front of the car to push it from the rear. Hope the guy who mows the lawn finds the chain. Don's mechanic didn't know why the car wouldn't come out of park. Some mechanic. (The battery was dead so the neutral saftey switch wouldn't allow it to come out, but there is a switch that you can push in the gearshift console to allow it to be put into neutral.) I bought a new battery but did not want it to come up missing as the wiper blades did so we didn't install it. After Don Shaffer told us that Tom Langenberg had the paperwork, we drove to his home in Hudsonville, MI to get our registration. With the car in tow with signs in all of the windows telling the passerby that it was our "dependable" vehicle that we purchased from Midwest Motorsports with their address. Usually you drive a dependable vehicle, not tow it! When we arrived at Tom and Lori Langenbergs home, they did not have the file and said that Don had it. They had to call Don at the dealership. He DID have the file, which he lied about, and he faxed her a copy of the RD108 receipt, not the registration that every dealer gets with the plates in the state of Michigan. I learned my lesson the hard way and hopefully someone out there will too as this is just not a good company to deal with. The deception of a low mileage car, (113,000 and the car fax said it had over 140,000,) was almost too much to believe. Don't believe anything that comes out of Don Shaffers mouth or Tom Langenbergs either as both of them lie. Nice people say what they are going to do and DO what they say. Not do nothing and not take care of their customers.

Well, well, well. Used car dealers are true to their reputations. After our car sat at Midwest Motorsports MI, in Wyoming, MI for over 8 weeks, they NEVER fixed the car as they said they would. The salesman, Don Shaffer, must have graduated at the top of his class for lying. My husband went into the dealership to ask what happened to the wiper blades on the car as they were missing and why the car wouldn't come out of park so we could load it onto the car dolly, Don Shaffer sat straight faced and lied to him. He said he didn't know what happened to the wiper blades and that they had pushed the car to where it was sitting. We don't know what happened to the wiper blades, but there was a chain on the left front tow hook of the vehicle. That is what you do when you are pushing a car... put a chain on it. Hope the guy who mows the lawn finds the chain. It's not that we can't afford new wiper blades, it is just a matter of principal. The integrity of this company is something left to be desired. We drove to the owners home to get our registration as the plate was bolted to the car, but the paperwork wasn't in the car. Don Shaffer, the salesman told us that the owner of the company had the file and when we got to their home, they couldn't find it so they had to call him. Don had the file and faxed us a receipt of the RD108 that they turned into the SOS. I learned my lesson and will NEVER purchase another used car from a lying used car dealer ever again. Hopefully someone will read this and not purchase anything from the top of the class liar, Don Shaffer or Tom Langenberg. My husband said that they were nice people. I just told him that nice people do what they say they are going to do and not lie about it. They take care of customers and don't leave them hanging. Say what you do and do what you say. Period.
