White Van Speaker Scam - Michael J. Amoroso

I got ripped off on a pair of these speakers last year. Spent $487 on these worthless pieces of junk after I was hit up going in the grocery store. They told me the speakers originally cost $2995 and they were extras from a theater system they just installed that afternoon. When I got home and hooked them up they sounded like complete junk. I immediately went online to find the manufacturer for warranty information but what I found were stories of poor suckers just like myself that got scammed for hundreds of dollars. This has got to stop!

I worked with a buddy of mine who is a retired investigator. While it took a while to find out where these speakers originated, it wasn't impossible.

The White Van Speaker scam speaker traces back to a guy named Michael Joseph Amoroso. It appears that he has been making millions of dollars off of people like you and me, everyday hard working folks. He trains his scampersons to prey on people that are close to a bank or ATM machine. The speaker packaging looks expensive so people will fall for it, usually using the sales pitch that "the speakers were leftover from another job" or "the speaker fell off the back of a truck" or "they shipped us an extra pair and we want to get rid of it before the boss finds out". He mostly hires drug addicts to do the selling and manipulation because they are the best liars and the most hungry for money to get their next fix. He will even provide fake literature with bogus prices to show to his unsuspecting prey.

Mike Amoroso has made millions of dollars on this scam. He has used these millions to buy expensive cars, multi-million dollar residences throughout the USA, a Cold Stone Creamery on Catalina Island, a hotel on Catalina Island called Glenmore Plaza Hotel and multiple other business ventures.

The investigator did more research and found out where he owns property -

He was able to get the address and some aerial photos of where Mike Amoroso lives through public records. This house is worth millions of dollars on a golf course in Yorba Linda (Orange County) California.

Mike Amoroso House

He has traced back some of the telephone numbers being used and they are pointing to one of his home numbers. He runs this white van speaker scam out of his home so he will not be connected with a business

address. All of his speaker are shipped from China. We were also able to connect shipments entering into the country from Yuens Audio in China. He will typically have a few containers shipped every week with 575 - 600 sets of speakers per container.

He and his brother Jack started this scam in the early 90's with one of the first companies called Audiowood Products in Chino Hills, very close to his house. Since then, he has started companies all over

It is estimated that he has sold over 500,000 pairs of speakers since 1995. If you do the math on 500k pairs at just $300 per pair, that's over $150,000,000 (one hundred and fifty million dollars) and most likely he does not pay taxes on this money. He only pays $15 for each set of speakers.

After more research, we found out that Mike owes a judgment to a company for $43,355.29 for providing the speaker grille cloth for his "Acoustic Reference LS-1000" series.

If you or someone you know has been scammed by Michael "Mike J" Amoroso. It is possible to get a refund and then some for damages. Contact your local Small Claims Court and file a lawsuit. Your damages, the amount of your lawsuit, should be equal to the value his salesperson told you the speakers were worth when you bought them and handed over the cash ($2495 to $4995). To file the lawsuit, it will typically cost $15 to $50 depending on your area. The next step is to serve Michael Amoroso with the court papers. Depending on your state, you will either need to have him served by a process server or by certified mail. Either way, you will be paid the court cost and serving costs when you win your lawsuit. There are many people that are not aware of how easy it is to file a small claims lawsuit and win a judgment. Your court appearance will take 5 - 10 minutes. Once the judge grants your judgment, you will file it with the county recorder and it will go on his credit. Next time he applies for a loan it will come up on his credit report. He will have to pay you to get it removed.

Here are the steps for your lawsuit -

1. File the lawsuit in small claims court

2. Serve the court papers to -

3. After the papers are served, return to the small claims courthouse for a court date

4. Show up in court and win your judgment.

5. Record your judgment and get your refund!
