Bought a remaned transmission from these people to replace the one I had in my car that had lost use of 5th gear.

After several hours of swapping out the transmissions, I took it out to see how it worked. As soon as I started to drive it, I knew something wasn't right. It chatters. Anytime the torque is reversed thru the transmission, it chatters. It's fine under load, like accellerating or cruising at speed. But anytime I let off the gas, it chatters. It's related to the vehicle velocity, not engine speed. I've basically narrowed it down to the final drive/spindle as if I disengage the clutch and put the transmission in neutral, it still chatters. At that point, the only thing turning in the trans are whatever is attached to the wheels.

I was sent a replacement, but the spindle was slightly oversized in that one as it wouldn't fit my axles. When I called the company to report it, the only thing they could do was have me return both transmissions and one of my axles so they could figure out what happened.

As the vehicle I have is the only one I have and the shipping depot is 60 miles from my home, that's not practical. Loosing my job because over their faulty product was not part of the plan. So I'm left to fix thier faulty transmission on my own as they don't contract thru any transmission shops. I spent $700 on a defective transmission and I'll have to spend an untold amount more to fix it.

I have dealt with Man trans for years

I work in the transmission industry (parts sales), and have dealt with Man trans many times. I can say that NO ONE is perfect, and occassional mistakes get made by all companies in this industry. That said, Mantrans has fewer comebacks than any other company I refer to. It isn't mistakes that make you look bad though (unless they are high percentage), but how you deal with them. I have refered dozens of customers to them, when buying parts to repair the unit they had was too expensive. With only one exception, all were very happy, and saved loads of money. The one exception proves that Grant didn't know who he was accusing. In my case, there would have been every reason for Mantrans to suspect abuse of the unit (commercial/racing use oftens voids warranties) but Mantrans took care of the guy, no questions I have total confidence in refering people to Mantrans, as i know that issues such as Grants have been handled well in the past. I am unfamiliar with this particular situation, but I have real trouble beleiveing Grants side of the story.

Grant Gaulke the untold side!!!

Mr. Grant Gaulke has told his side of the store and left out a few details. Frist lets go over what type of car he has and what he did. His car is a 89 Nissan Sentra, and paid $500.00 for the transmission. He installed it on his own, and call me stating there was a noise as soon as he was done putting it all back togeather. From all the info he gave me it sounded like he install the wrong axels or did not install them properly. After talking to Mr. Gaulke many time to help him find out what may be the problem, we decided to send him another transmission at no charge to him. He called me back and stated that the axel would not fit properly into this New transmission. We did request both Transmisssion and axels to see where the problem is and fix it at no charge to Mr. Gaulke. He Failed to mention that he had bought remaned axels, unfortunately we do not sell them. We just cant keep sending him transmission till he find out what the real problem is, he is not a certified technican. Mr. Gaulke told us that he would just take and get the frist transmission fixed on his own and returned the second transmission to us not to worry about it. Lets face some truth here. We tryed to help and are still willing to help, if Grant wants us too. Were are sorry that we can't just fly up to Ohio and fix his car for him or ship the car here to Florida. We will pay to ship the transmission and axels here. Yes it will take a few days. Grant Stated that he lost his job over our transmission. I belive this to be a lie! He had to have a employment problem befor this all started if he really lost his job. He states that he will have to fix this on his own. This is what we belive started this whole problem to begin with. He stated that he had to drive 60 mile to a depot to pick up the transmission. He did so on his own because he did not want to pay the shipping cost to his house an extra $60.00. Sam Powell Sales Manger Man-trans L.L.C.
