I have to laugh - ESP at the orginal posting - since these practices are all throughout big buiness! This company just brings it to the next level !!! As for benifits - this is one area all companies can control - and yes save money They can actually base what they schedule everyone off of this - and it is certainly legal ! Now right is another thing - but yes I to was told the full timers are reduced to 30 hrs to keep their benifits but as for ptrs not reaching the hrs needed is intentional !! By law it works on a AVERAGE so they could legally have them work 45 hrs one week - 4 hrs the next -- ect- ect And it is perfectly in their right and the laws Like it or NOT they could have them average 29.999999 and they are STILL S-O-L !!! Now I hear these sobs actually TOOK $$$ from there salarys depending on their reviews !! Yes they lost $ per hour !! I was told between 5-10%%%%% !! And to top it off they where UNWILLING to let them adjust there other deductions like HSA"s or benifits to compensate for the loss saying it was NOT a qualifying event !! That is such bs - everyone must pay there bills yet LC could care less they just want to play mommy or daddy to there staff and PUNISH the people !! How crazy !! They need to get off there power high and actually start caring about the people that work for them . Why don't these fools tfat work got this giant start a UNION ?? And back these execs up to the wall ? I just don't get these folks that work for them and complain year after year ? If u don't like it do something about it !!! Unionize or leave !!!

Yes you can get insurance as a part timer but it is not half as good as a full time person. In addition you only get half the holiday pay and no vacation time. By the way the current cut off point to retain full time status is 30 hours. We are going to see a lot of full time people start coming up short and losing the benefits they have had for years.

And I get health insurance coverage. As a PART-TIME employee. This report is pure fabrication -- your relative evidently failed to enroll in health coverage during his or her free enrollment period.

I see this all the time in this company. The scenario that you speak of happens at this store also.

It happens at the other stores as well. I worked for a Lenscrafters for 4 years as a lab tech and retail associate (cross trained). I fought with them for 2 years to gain full time status within our store, but was always told that "There were too many full time associates in the store" or "We need to hire more part time associates to justify having another full time associate". Needless to say, I ended up talking to the Regional Manager for Sears Optical so I could transfer out of that location into one that had a full time position available. I ended up quitting them altogether a couple of months ago and couldnt be any happier in doing so.
