take warning people, we bought a new leisure bay hot tub from rec warehouse, & three weeks ago it burned our home down. they are using high voltage electric wires really close to flameable material, ie foam insulation & wood paneling around the outside of the spa. it is illeagle to put high voltage wires near flameable materials when building a home so why do they get away with it on a hot tub. we paid 7000.00 for the spa. we are blessed to be alive because the fire started at 3am. because of the ecomony we were in a time without homeowners insurance, it was a total loss, we have to start all the way back over, my husband has had 3 back surgeries is why we bought the spa.  Leisure Bay YOU know what you are doing is wrong & can end up costing lives. Jesus never said you can't seek redress for a wrong, and forgiveness doesn't mean rolling over and dying without trying to bring a measure of accountability to a wrongdoer. You have an obligation to other potential victims, to bring a totally justified suit against the installers who ignored such basic safety protocol. Otherwise there will be no public record of the issue, other than a nondescript electrical fire. Going to court does not equate to taking vengeance. In fact, it could be seen as more vengeful to post on this site, than seek a proper redress in the proper forum, although I'm not calling your post vengeful. I'm just trying to clarify priorities and options. As for insurance, I have to agree with others, having up to date casualty insurance is more important than a hot tub. Insurance is not evil. It's simply a service, just like anything else one buys. God gave us Jesus as insurance against our sins. Everyone is covered it. The bible has accounts of wrongdoers needing to compensate their victims. Nothing wrong with using a court to mediate that. These folks can't keep doing dangerous installations without redress being brought to bear. You have a responsibility to see that through.

we are Christian ppl & dont believe in law suits, even tho, the report from an independent company who looked at the motors and the heating element said that was the source of the fire, also was the report from the state Fire Inspector who said the fire started at the hot tub, & fyi we had just gotten our home paid for, 2 months ago & was in the process of buying homeowners insurance. God will take care of us, i know lesiure bay made alot of money off people, but its harder to put a camel through the eye of a needle then it is for a rich man to get into Heaven. we have no plans of lawyers or lawsuits, only faith & word of mouth about your product, i just pray that lesiure bay hasent already killed somebody with their product. shame on all of you

I am sorry about the loss of your home.

I know people who have had various surgeries including back surgery and none of them have evern HAD to get a spa.  So to not have homeowners insurance but to buy a spa causes it to look like your priorities are a bit out of wack.

You may be able to find a lawyer who would take your case on contingency, but unless you have additional proof that the spa was the cause you are going to have a tough time.

Do you have the fire marhall's report stating that it started with the spa, more specifically because of the wiring of the spa?

Did you have to add wiring to power the spa?  Was the wiring sufficent to supply the spa safely?

Are there other reports of this spa causing fires?

"Because of the economy we were in a time WITHOUT HOMEOWNER'S INSURANCE". "We paid $7,000.00 for the spa". It seems to me that someone has their PRIORITIES  in the WRONG ORDER. I would think paying my homeowner's insurance would trump a $7,000 hot tub even given back surgeries. But that's just me. I AM sorry to hear about your loss.
