I have been insured with travelers for almost six Years. My car was stolen and later found wrecked. Expecting it to be replaced or partly paid because "Travelers is committed to providing you with the highest level of service" I called and was informed by Kelly Conrad that

1) I filled in the application form incorrectly

2) that it was not worth what I was asking for it

3) that I parked it in the wrong place (in front of my house) 4) therefore it was my fault it was stolen Kelly Conrad is a fibber and a con-woman. She even asked me for what I took as a request for a bribe, an extra amount of cash to rush the claim through.

I believed I was paying for Comprehensive Collision and Theft Coverage but apparently the theft of my vehicle was not covered only the theft of my cash by Kelly Conrad and Travelers Insurance Company. I could have bought a new car with all the money I paid them.

I have been insured with travelers for almost six Years. My car was stolen and later found wrecked. Expecting it to be replaced or partly paid because "Travelers is committed to providing you with the highest level of service"  Probably an unreasonable expectation for it to either be replaced OR partly paid.  Auto reimbursement valuations by insurance companies are largely figured on the Kelly Blue Book; if you have a lot of miles - more than standard for the car - then the valuation is decreased substantially further.  Accordingly, the insurance company is going to provide a valuation that will not be very satisfactory to you.  This of course assumes you have Comprehensive coverage.

I called and was informed by Kelly Conrad that 1) I filled in the application form incorrectly 3) that I parked it in the wrong place (in front of my house) 4) therefore it was my fault it was stolen.  Having the form filled out incorrectly is minor and would not affect your recovery.  Neither would parking a car in the wrong place, nor is fault a determining factor.  Cars are stolen occasionally; even if you left your keys in the car for the thief, it would have no effect upon your ability to file and collect on a claim.

I believed I was paying for Comprehensive Collision and Theft Coverage but apparently the theft of my vehicle was not covered only the theft of my cash by Kelly Conrad and Travelers Insurance Company.   Well, that's on you, not the insurance company.  Collision and Comprehensive policies are expensive, and generally speaking, it often makes good financial sense to drop collision coverage on an older vehicle that would not be worth much in an accident.  Same with Comprehensive for all of the same reasons.  I am curious as to why they would cover your cash stolen in the vehicle - that sort of thing isn't covered, so if you're getting that, then your agent is doing something good for you.  For something like that, you ought to be praising your agent.

I could have bought a new car with all the money I paid them.  If it was that much, then I suspect you're a really bad driver.

She even asked me for what I took as a request for a bribe, an extra amount of cash to rush the claim through.  It's not a bribe, but I think it's funny you think so.

Having your car stolen stinks and it's a pain the rear to deal with - personally, it's happened to me.  It is a catastrophic loss without question.  However, if you think insurance is bad - let's remember it's the thief that's your problem, not the insurance company.  Your agent has a thankless job - she is trying to see you get insured and has to comply with your wishes to keep insurance cheap for you, while providing you the coverage you need in case there is an accident or theft.  Your complaint exemplifies WHY working as an insurance agent is a thankless job, and why I would never wish to be one....
