Firstly: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are a money grab!

Rhode Island has new regulations as per the word of the Intoxalock rep. and I was asked to sign a new lease. The only way I was aware of this was that I had received a couple of calls from an unknown number that started with a recorded message. I thought it was a marketing call and hung up as I do to any call that is a recording. Today I received that call and happened to listened to it and it was Intoxalock reminding me that I need my unit calibrated. I have less than one month to go for a one year requirement of this devise. I called Intoxalock and spoke with Tasha I believe her name was. She explained to me that indeed RI has changed its protocols and need to go to a approved service center to have the new unit installed and the old unit returned. Not a big deal.

What is a big deal is that I was charged $35 for an overnight shipping to the center because my existing unit says 1 day 14 hours for service. Mind you for the last 11 months they have shipped me a unit for me to remove the old unit and install the new unit every 60 days. Because I didn't listen to their recorded calls I know have to pay another $35 AND an additional $15 to the center (which isn't Intoxalock's issue) but wasn't told that there would be more fee's. This wasn't what I signed up for. I NEVER received anything in the mail letting me know of such changes. I, like most, get hundred of marketing emails and was sent two emails dated 5/10 and 6/13. Here is the body of the email sent:

Customer lease-end date already reached

Please login to My Account and resolve any issue(s) that is preventing the shipment of your Intoxalock unit. After resolving the issue(s), remember to order your calibration unit and choose a shipping option.

I only checked my email and searched for all Intoxalcok emails and found those two. So... The rep. repeatedly told me that I had plenty of time from all the calls and emails to be prepared. I DONT DO MARKETING RECORDED CALLS. I use email minimally. I asked why didn't I receive a letter in the mail? I was told because I received two calls and two emails. Can you imagine in a legal situation there isn't paper work? Not even a letter??? 

This is only today's issue. For those of you who are seeking this devise for your unfortunate solution; be prepared for lock outs because you had eaten something in your car that has bread. When asked why you blow a .035 they will disrespect you by telling you that you had alcohol and when you tell they you didn't they will give you a spell and ask for over $100 with shipping or your car will not start. So much more too but I will leave it at that. I'm simply passing on my experience and will NEVER recommend this company. In RI it's mandatory if you even go to court for a DUI wether you win or loose your case. I have had three people I know get pulled over from leaving the same restaurant in North Kingstown and received DUI's... I have recommended them to Intoxalock for their unit but am sorry I did because they too have had nightmare situations with them. Rude, unprofessional, kids for their call center. You have other options that are better in Rhode Island. The DMV has a list of them.
