I went to the Inn about 8 years ago, and while it is a beutiful inn, and now being rebuilt, the staff seems forever daunted by anyones presence. While we were there when ever we had any issues we were made to feel like we were bothering the staff. We asked for towels once, and were answered with "you have 3 already!" blah blah.... anyway...the next time we went to this fabulous wonderful town ( i love it!!) we rented from RON WRIGHT reality, I git a 2 bedroom house that was wonderfully furnished with a fabulous view, near town, upstairs with 2 balconys for 500$ per week! It slept 6 wonderfully. Last year we rented from HUMMINGBIRD reality, we had a 3 bedroom 2 bath with a hot tub, we paid 1025$ for the week, that was the most fantastic house! Try renting when you visit this awsome town, and you will enjoy the anonymity and the fun of being in a private home much more than a rented cabin park or a hotel. Good luck!

My husband and I also visited the Inn of the Mountain Gods for the first time last summer. While the setting was magnificent and the golf course thrilling for my husband, we were extremely disapointed with the lack of common hospitality normally found in hotels, not to mention the ones in this price range. On our arrival, we had to wait while the personnel talked among themselves. When they did finally acknowledge us it was with no warmth or congeniality. We felt intimidated and defensive by their curt questions upon check in. Our stay there was okay and my husband wants to return in light of the wonderful golf course but I am hesitant because of the over all lack of civility we found among the staff there.

First, there was no intenet to rob the Inn. Look at your registration card. It SHOULD state several things. name address, check in date check out date, number of adults and number of children. If in fact the registration card was filled out correctly and all 5 occupants are counted for as either an adult or child, then the hotel should honor the rate as listed on the registration card. If it was their mistake, you should not have to pay for their error. Any espectable hotel manager would have honored the rate. In your room there should have been a rate/law card. This card should list the maximum rate allowed to be charged and it should also sate how many people can occupy the room at this rate. It HAS to be clear. if it states 1-4 people and the rate is for example $100, the that is the maximum to be paid. if they charge more for 5 or more people, it should be stated as such. The sate department of business and professional regulations require that each room have this card. Technically, they could impose the additional charge and be within their legal right to do so. A registration card with the rate and correct number of people is more than enough to validate the correct charge. Again, any respectable business would accept the responsibility of the error. Additionally, if they were bent on charging the higher amount, this should have prompted them to communicate to youimmediately. The ideal situation regarding the dog should have been that they phone your room to ask if you had a dog. The fact that they mishandled that as well and there was no apology tells me that this hotel is not managed very well. I wouldn't stay at a hotel like this and I have managed hotels for nearly 20 years. I would never go head to head with a guest over an error my staff makes.

While you beleive that someone was attempting to rob your room, you in fact attempted to rob the inn. As a seasoned traveler, I presume, you should be aware that additional charges are expected for more than normal occupents per room. If you weren't attempting to rip off the inn, then at the time of check-in, you should have inquired about additional person charges, rather than knowingly accepting rate as paid.
