Holtzman Home Improvement Scheisters Extraordinaire! Lies, cheats, appalling quality, overcharging, broken promises Queen Creek Arizona
Brandon Holtzman lied from very beginning to get the contract. He mentioned that they do all the work themselves - most of the work was subcontracted. The quality was appalling. Too many things to list. The project was total remodeling of my house. In bidding Holtzman came second. He begged to give him a job and he would match the competition price.
He did mtach the price in revised contract but then a new clause appeared "I would pay the tax". I asked him if this was a new thing when compared to original contract proposal, with straight face he said "no". I presented him with original contract proving his lie, he said "Ok we cross it out". No appologies... Should have dropped him for that lie alone....
The first day on the job brand new rake a bought walked out of my house... His response was "nobody saw your rake, how do I know you had it..."...
During bidding he agreed to pay for the energy efficient windows meeting tax credit requirements. He installed cheaper windows not meeting requirements and refused to return the difference.
During bidding he agreed to pay for Holtzman agreed to pay for all doors to be replaced in the house and include in the contract price. I ended up for them during trips to Home Depot. During final settlement I asked to be reimbursed, he refused.
During bidding he agreed to paint screen door, he has never done that.
I provided to him 2 sets of expensive bathroom fixtures, but since onbly one of my bathrooms had bathtub, one spigot was not used. He never return it.
During bidding he offered to provide 5 year warranty for work performed. He refused to provide any warranty after work was finished.
During bidding he stated that he will provide me with bills for any materials I wll pay for. I requested to be provided with all the bills, he refused.
He charged me 1200 dollars for connecting washer, dryer, microwave and oven. This required changing an oven cable ($20), replacing rusted water faucet ($20) and removing one shelf.
I caught his subcontractors painting outdoor door with indoor paint (leftovers from indoor painting). I asked painters why they use indoor paint for outdoor job, they said Holtzman told them...
Many door hinges have been attached with just 3 screws instead of 4.
Brand new door frames have been banged and chipped and never properly fixed.
The dirt that was left on the walls and window boards from removing popcorn ceiling was never cleaned and simply painted over.
Stacco job after removing doggy door was "finished" with leaving an inch wide hole and never touched up.
Holztmnan was constantly on a look out to come up with reasons for additional charge. be that supposedly broken pipe in the wall (suprisingly nothing was leaking before remodeling), or replacing can lights that actually needed moving.
One of the Sundays I came to the house and noticed that Hotlzman father removed old fans. Though I did ask to remove them, I did not agree for him to take them. My friend wanted them so I asked him to bring them and he said he would bring them the next day. When reminded during the week he mentioned he already throw them away in the dumpster...
I ended up handsomely overpaying, being cheated and left with job of apaling quality.
On servicemagic.com I have a review that was detailing window job that Holtzman did for me (substituting cheaper windows and refusing to pay the difference, and refusing to paint the stacco around the replaced windows. Holtzman called me and demanded that I remove the review or he report me to IRS and complain about me to my employer.
My advise, do yourself a favor and stay away from this contractor. If you do decide to go with him anyway, make sure your write every single detail into the contract as he will deny agreeing to anything you did not write down.
Holtzman has 110 positive reviews on kudzu.com and only 1 negative. Surprisingly the one negative resembles my experience with them. I find it extremely suspicious the number of positive reviews but if correct then I am not sure why Holtzman singled me out to display his lack of craftsmanship, dishonestly and greed.

Please feel free to look at are others 5 star review that reflect are company, this one does not. We provide the highest quality & go above a beyond our customers expectations. We went shopping with this customer and provided all design ideas and picked out all material for the house. We went out on a Sunday after noon for this client, because spencers would not hook up his appliances for him. We not only answered this clients call on Sunday, but we installed the appliances for this customer the very next day. We never nickel a dime any of our customers. We will do extra work, but not for free which this client expected, all the time.
Also, this client ordered windows that did NOT qualify him for a credit. He asked us to FALSIFY a receipt so he can get a tax credit. HHI would not do, the customer was aware of the product that he received he just did not want to pay for the upgrades, apparently not in his budget. He signed and dated each section of the contract, when the job was completed and then- He tried to dispute charges through his credit company for materials that he said he was not responsible for paying. He was at home depot with us and paid for the materials him self and according to the agreement he was responsible to pay for all material. He kept on adding work and did not want to pay for anything he added on.. He provided Holtzman a credit card for the work he agreed to pay for and try to DISPUTE the charges and lost because we had all supporting documents that he agreed to the work. HHI provides a full walk-through for all clients after work is performed. He agreed that all wok was done to his satisfaction and signed off on all work performed.
We don't take any short cuts on any of our work. We have all our own guys that work for us. We will go the extra mile for anyone and we hope that in seeing our other outstanding 5 star reviews, youll be calling us soon. Well do it right the first time!
