i baught a 54 inch bigscreen from hh gregg in beavercreek oct 2005 a new one not a used one. it is know longer working and all they say to help me is buy a new one at cost... i have a new one it should last more than 2 yrs. i have a 19 inch ontop of the 54 inch akai im watching and its 15 yrs old very disatisfied with this junk and they dont back their product they sell.

when i went in to the beavercreek store they had this 54 inch on sale for 800 dollars but this set was not hooked to cable and the other higher priced tvs were. they tried to sell me a 3000 dollar set because the screen was more clear than the one on sale, watch out for their cheap practices. now i have a tv that does not work and they want to charge me for a service call. i can understand if the set was 10 yrs old than i can decide to buy a new one or have it fixed but i have a new peice of junk they sell already.

i had the same kind of responce from akai and samsung/ everyone thi talked to said it should work at least 10 plus yrs but wont do anything about it im hosed they said you got a bad one that does not work well with me so never go to hh gregg they sell junk/ they the beavercreek store just wanted me out of there that night because i busted them with the cable not pluged in they never offered me a warrant on this piece of junk either thanks

I am a former employee of HH Gregg and I will have to say that they are one of the more honest companies out there. You stated that they do not back the products they sell. They back it as far as the manufacturer will allow them to back it. If it said lifetime warranty you would not be upset, but at the time of purchase you felt that 12 months parts and 12 months labor was good enough for you and thus you declined the extended service plan that was offered to you. and YES it was offered to you, but I have a feeling that you declined it, after all the fact that you are mentioning the fact that they did not offer it to you tells me that you know it is available. BIG MISTAKE!!! I know there are people that will tell you an extended warranty is a waste of money, ask those people if they will pay to fix it if it breaks. Now I will not call you cheap based on the model that you purchased, because I have seen the cheap models last 10 days or 10 years, just as I have seen the expensive models last the same period of time. I will tell your anger is directed toward the wrong people. If they are offering to sell you a new TV at their cost (when they are not obligated to do so) you should be thanking them instead of coming to a site that allows you to vent with no resolution. If you want to be mad, contact Akai, tell them that the next time you go into HH Gregg (to get your tv at cost) that Akai will not be the TV that you choose, and you will make sure that others hear of your dissatisfaction with their brand.

Terry, Do you really expect HH Gregg or Akai to fix your tv for free??? I have myself purchased several televisions from HH Gregg, their staff is by far more knowledgeable and willing to help than either best buy or circuit city, I know for a fact that when you were buying that tv your salesperson offered you one of their extended warranties and you obviously chose not to purchase it. Your television is outside of manufactures warranty and you didnt buy theirs, thats not hh greggs fault. Now I dont buy their warranty s either but i also dont expect them to fix my stuff for free if it breaks. Get a clue.. Whodey Dayton, Oh

Every single brand of televison you purchase from ANY store only comes with a 12 months parts and labor warranty. As with any MAJOR retailer I'm sure the fine folks at HH Gregg tried to sell you an extended service plan at an additional cost. That means that you made a decision to risk the fact that if the TV broke after 12 months you were on your own. So that makes your sob story about how your TV broke means nothing to no one, because you made the call to NOT protect it. Even IF, and I stress IF, the company told you it would last you 10 years even they know that is under ideal circumstances. So sir I do not feel sorry for you, as well as I'll give you a little more helpful advice, NEVER BUY AKAI. They are a rag-tag company with a horrible service record. Enjoy your next purchase from whom ever you buy from, and when that TV breaks you can hate the retailer instead of the company who makes the TV.
