For more than 11 years, I have loyally used Havoline Xpress Lube on 200 N. State Road 434, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714. On 12/19/2014 I stopped in for my normal, routine oil change.

One of the younger mechanics, came up to my window and asked me to "grease my door jams". I questioned this, and said I had never heard of it before. He said it was normal routine maintenance, so I figured it would be fine.

After leaving, (not more than 5-7 minutes later), I noticed my handgun had been removed from the driver side door pouch. I called the police immediately and they were there within minutes.

After many months and an investigation by the Altamonte Springs Police Department, they could not find the weapon (even though I offered to search the dumpster the very same day) and said there was nothing more they could do with the workload they have. They had said within weeks of the handgun being taken that "they have had issues out there before".

I specifically remember afterward, two of the mechanics having their elbows on the front of the car while this man greased the door jams. I do believe they are working together in removing personal items from these side pouches, as many of us use them to store items in there while we drive.

I filled out the Contact Us form three times at: http://nflinc.org/contact and was told numerous times when I called that a Joe Vincennie (Director of Customer Service) would be returning my correspondence. I never received a call from him.

On 6/11/2014 I completed the form onnce again and received a call from what I was told were two "district managers" in Ray and Jeff. I remember Jeff being adamant with me that the "proof of burden" was on me and that I had to prove the handgun was taken. I told him I've been using their services for over 11 years and had NEVER been asked to have my door hinges greased. He went off that it was their policy, but that policy was just suspended in December of last year (2014).

Interesting, that is when my handgun was stolen...

I was also asked to email the police report to "Ray", which I did. I never received a response from him. I have asked just about 30 people (or more) if they have ever been asked to have their door jams greased at an oli change. EVERYONE of them said they thought it was absurd and were never asked.

I was simply requesting North Florida Lubes to return the amount I paid for the handgun. and I'd simply let it go. In the way this was handled, I feel they knew what was going on there all along and never took ownership for their employess stealing other's items from these driver side (and I guess other) panels.

Greasing door jams is simply not part of an oil change and I found my handgun gone within 5-7 minutes. I was loyal to Havoline for many years and still would be, if this was handled in a professional manner.
