I booked a room on 1/09/2016 at 10:00 a.m. CST for the Wyndham Garden New Orleans Airport Hotel for the day of 1/09/2016, and checking out on 1/10/2016. I thought I was booking through the hotel, but was not. Was directed to a third party site automatically (which I was not aware was a third party site) called "Get A Room.com" instead of directly to the Wydham Garden hotel itself.
Two hours later at 12:30 p.m. CST (New Olreans) I called hotel to cancel reservation. Hotel said I had to call "Get A Room.com", not them to cancel. So, I did call them.
I was told that in order to cancel I had to cancel on 1/08/2016 before 4:00 p.m. Now how can I do that when I booked the reservation JUST TWO HOURS AGO?
CANCELLATIO POLICY:
"Each room in this reservation is subject to the hotel's cancellation policy which is: Cancellations before 1/08/2016, 4:00 PM (America/Chicago) are fully refundable. Bookings cancelled after 1/08/2016, 4:00 PM (America/Chicago) are subject to a fee of 115.10 USD. Bookings cancelled after 1/09/2016, 4:00 PM (America/Chicago) are subject to a fee of 115.10 USD. There is no refund for no shows or early checkouts."
Again, it is a 'built in rip off' to book with Get A Room.com because you can't go back in TIME to cancel a reservation that was booked the following day. Booked on 1/09/2016, but not refundable unless I GO BACK IN A TIME MACHINE to yesterday 1/08/2016.
What folly this is and what a gold mine for somebody who found a way to crook thousands of travelers this way. If the Company is not aware that this is a bad business practice and/or does not change their Cancellation Policy so that we, consumers, do not have to time travel, then they are just outright CROOKS.
