I applied for a Lowe's project card account when I was working full time and my children's father was working full time.  I was making regular payments and doing well at paying down the two projects that I was able to finance through G.E. Money bank.

In June 2009 I and my children's father both were layed off and I tried to work with all my creditors but wasn't able to make any payments for 3 months due to un-employment being back up that long.  I received a retroactive payment in late August of 2009, but it was substancially less than what my paychecks were per month.  I called consumer credit counseling services and asked to be put on their program where they work with creditors at reducing my monthly payment amount, lowering interest rates, and stopping late fees.  This is not a debt settlement company.  G.E. Money bank allowed both of my accounts to be put on the progam and I made regular payments to CCCS who in turn paid all my creditors including G.E. Money bank.  2 Months into the program I started receiving phone calls from G.E. Money bank stating that I was delinquent on my Lowe's card. I explained the situation and they said it would be okay, that they must not have received a copy of the contract yet and they thanked me for my time.  Another month passed and I receive the same phone call only this time I was told by G.E. Money that they did not agree to a contract with CCCS and that they would not allow my Lowes account to be put on a credit plan unless I do it directly through them.  I agreed and was set up on their program on October.  I received the paperwork showing the agreement and continued to make regular monthly payments of the reduced amount of $90.00.  Apparently in December 2009 they decided to drop me from their program with no notice and in March 2010 I started receiving harrassing phone calls from a collection agency TSC who represents G.E. Money bank..Lowes.  I was totally blind sided and tried to work the the representative on the phone in regards to my account.  She concerred with me that it shows my regular payments and she was confused why I was sent to collections other than that the company is charging me late fees and imposing delinquent reports on my account.  I am still on limited income and can't negotiate any other payment plan. This company is absurd. I didn't plan for financial hardship, it just happened and I am trying hard to work with this company to pay what I owe them and they are in short stealing from me now and taking advantage of my hardship so they can make more money.  This is not my opinion it is a fact based on the extra fees they impose on this account each month....it will make it to where I NEVER pay this account off. The phone calls never stop. Just today I received 4 calls all in a row.2:20 p.m., 2:35p.m., 2:44p.m. 3:05p.m.....if this isn't harrassment then I want to know what is.  I am planning on pressing charges and all calls have been recorded on my end so I have proof. Please...if you are planning a home improvement project and don't have the money put aside to do it, do not open a lowe's project card account. Go to your local bank or credit union and see what terms they have available or just go to home depot as long as they don't use G.E. Money Bank.

Weak resolve attempt by G.E. Money

Not long after I submitted this report here and to consumer affairs, BBB, and the Attorney General's office; I received a phone call from a manager at G.E. money who would like to work with me at resolving this issue.

As of now the collection phone calls have stopped...thank you, but I still haven't actually gotten to speak to the manager who phoned.  I have called at least two times possibly 3 leaving a message and times that I could call back etc. She in turn called back and gave me times that she is available eastern time.  Well? thanks, but it won't work because I can't make long distance phone calls from my place of employment and even if I take a lunch break to drive all the way to the place where I can make phone calls she is never at her desk and I can't keep calling on someone elses phone line raking up long distance calls and feel they should be the ones calling and making arrangements to communicate since they are the ones who didn't stand by their word of helping.

If someone from G.E. money is reading this update, I would appreciate you working with me by crediting any and all late fees, bringing my account current with monthly payments of $90.00.  You are making more money than the loan amount as it is and I need to be given the opportunity to pay this loan off and close the account. My new job doesn't pay what I used to make so there is no way to make higher payments.  If this is not acceptable then please allow this account to be put on the consumer credit counseling service program that my other G.E. account is listed under and is current on payments.  My income is the best that I can obtain and obtaining a higher salary is out of my hands at this point.  I continue to look daily for other means.
