In Dec., 2016 my husband and I decided to switch from our longtime cable company (our rates went up again) to DirecTV. We had them years ago and never had a problem.

I called them a talked to a gal who was very pleasant and set up the installation for the same day. Our payments were going to be automatically deducted every month from our Discover card. I asked her about home phone and internet and she said she'd switch me to that department.

I was connected to a guy that was very evasive about answering my questions and I became suspicious when he kept asking me for my SS# so I could get the best rates. I asked him if he was DirecTV and he said, "No". I asked who he was with and he said Frontier. I said I had changed my mind and didn't want the service. He asked me why and I told him I knew of ther bad reputation and didn't want to have their service. He started asking me what I had heard bad about them and I just hung up. I called DirecTV back and cancelled my order. The guy asked me why and I told him I didn't want to do business with Frontier. He hesitated and then said, "We don't have Frontier as a contractor for internet or phone."

In Jan., 2017 we got a phone call from Discover that there was unusual activity on our card. I looked at it immediately and there were charges amounting to $5000! It really shook us up that "someone" had stolen our information and used it to make purchases. We don't use this card much and this was the only transaction that was "different" than our usual charges. It took about a month to get it all straightened out but it was scary in the meantime.

I firmly believe that that girl at DirecTV and the guy from Frontier were in it together to rip people off.

I don't know if Discover pursued this or not but it's just another bad review for Frontier and DirecTV. I hope both these people get caught.
