Who gives a crap about the UN? Aside from UNICEF, they're just a bunch of double-talking handwringers, led by the French! If they're noy going to follow through with resolutions they've already passed, who needs them? They're irrelevant!

We actually pay a lot less per gallon for gas compared to Europe because our Federal Government subsidizes the oil industry. Gas would be even cheaper if the States didn't tax the hell out of it. Turkey also purchases most of its oil from Iraq illegally on the blackmarket; should we start the ad hominem attacks on them as well? Further, the U.S. purchases more oil from Iraq than any other country. I'm also interested in the revelation in your post that cheap oil is our birthright. Can you explain that one? Because I'm still looking in my copy of the U.S. Constitution for the "cheap oil" clause. The French have always been a pain in the butt when it comes to our world foreign policy goals; that's their job. Thus, it is our president's job to work with them and convince them to come along with us. But that's not going to happen when we have a few wingnuts in the Federal Government -- like Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz and Perle -- making stupid, idiotic comments and a president that thinks diplomacy can be lazily handled over the phone. If you really want to know what's going on their sick heads, go look up the Project for the New American Century. We have wingnut thinktanks and corporations running our foriegn policy these days. Moreover, as of today, the British are also backing off their former hardline stance and may give time to allow the inspections to work. Maybe Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China recognize something that our "leaders" haven't. Now excuse me as I have to go walk my neighbor's freedom poodle and liberty shepard now.
