I refinanced my house and overpaid the balance on my credit card with Fleet by 417.00. I requested to close the account and refund the over payment. The representative that I spoke with informed me it would take 30 days.

After a month I still had not received a refund. I called back and was informed I would have to submit another request and wait another 30 days. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that I had to fax a copy of the front and back of the check. I told her I did not have access to the check as it was not drawn on my Bank, but on the financial instituition that refinanced my house.

I do not believe they intend to reimburse me, as I was not given this instruction when I originally called. I asked the supervisor why she could not confirm whether they had cashed the check since my last statement indicated a zero balance and 416.99 credit? She informed me that was handled by a different department and they did not have telephones!

If you pay off your credit card and choose to close your account make sure you do not overpay, as it will be kept as a charitable contribution!
