Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I try to avoid used car dealers as my experience has led me to believe that they generally live up to the stereotypes. I have been looking for a very specific combination of year, make, model, and color for my next vehicle purchase. I happened to find one that fit all of my criteria in an eBay ad for Ferman Mazda. It was a silver 2006 Infiniti G35 with about 30k miles.

I called the contact person listed, RJ Trejbrowski. He verified the car was still available and I made arrangements to drive from 2 hours away to view the car. Before leaving, I made sure my banker was on standby to receive the purchase order and called RJ to let him know I was on my way and to verify the car was still available before I drove all the way there.

He spoke to the used car manager, Art, and let me know it was still there. He also mentioned another car, but I told him I wasn't interested. When I arrived, I called RJ to find that I was being handed off to Art. Fair enough. Then Art handed me off to whatever sales guy was "up" and said, "Show them the Infiniti G and the silver Acura TL."

When the salesman walked us out to a 2005 gold G35 with 60k miles, I explained that we were looking for the silver 2006. "Oh, I'm pretty sure that one is sold."

And there you have it, folks. The classic bait-and-switch. Art and RJ must have assumed that a silver TL was close enough to a silver G35 that - after I drove from 2 hours away - they could talk me into it or one of their other cars.

Afterward, RJ suddenly stopped taking my calls and didn't even have the decency to call back and apologize. Four hours of my time wasted. I am sure I got off easy if this is any indication of the sort of unethical and underhanded tricks RJ, Art, and Ferman Automotive Group use to sell their cars.

#2REBUTTAL Individual responds

Tue, June 23, 2009

This is RJ Trejbrowski, responding to aforementioned report authored by Mr. Jack Thorsen of Orlando Fl. The content of my rebuttal has not been sanctioned by the Ferman Automotive Group. These are solely my comments. The reputation of the Ferman Automotive Group needs no refutation. This company has ethically served central Florida for over 100 years. Mr. Thorsen, I personally don't stereotype anyone. Though I realize this does occur when referring to this industry, I personally do not engage in any unethical behavior in this, the industry that takes care of my family. Ferman has the same principles, which is why I work for them. In regards to your unpleasent experience, yes you did contact me through one of the many online venues I direct in Internet Sales. At that time, an online check, and verbal acknowledgement from the building manager, confirmed the vehicle was here. It was obviously a good deal, and a sought after vehicle, or you would'nt have had to drive two hours from your own metro area to find one. The vehicle sold before you arrived sales records testify to this, and there was no monies to hold the vehicle. As far as your "bait and switch," do you blame a salesperson for offering to see if you might be interested in a comparable vehicle? Unfortunatly, I was not available immediatly after your abrupt departure. I tried to contact you to offer an apology when I discoverd the situation, even though though the content of your messages made it hard to do so. I am sorry for your inconvience.
