I learned my lesson the hard way about paying for my EZ Pass toll replenishment with a credit card. I used to pay for my EZ Pass with automatic credit card payments, but one month, I was charged an excessive replenishment amount!!! I called up the EZ Pass Customer Service Center to find out why my credit card was charged $120 instead of the usual $25. They told me that the reason my credit card was charged more than usual was because I had excessive usage in the previous month. This was not true, as my toll usage in the previous month was only slightly more than usual. I asked them to issue a credit in the amount of $95, but they refused. They told me that the EZ Pass User Agreement authorizes them to charge my credit card an amount commiserate with my previous month's usage. I felt that it was unfair to charge me almost 5 times my usal replenishment amount, so I called up my credit card company to file a dispute, and eventually I was issued the desired credit. After this experience, I decided to drop automatic credit card payments, and now I pay for my EZ Pass toll replenishment by check. I am in control of my EZ Pass account, as I decide when to pay EZ Pass! If you don't want any problems like I experienced, I suggest that you do likewise!
