I actually intended to file a criminal charge and a civil suit against this man but it might not worth the time. I hired Mr Gaines in October 2017 and as a US Veteran i admired and appreciated his service to his country,I made him understand we honor and take care of our veterans but this 49 years old man took me as a fool because i gave him some extra $100 on Veterans day after his $1,500.00 weekly salary as a truck driver. He started coming up with different lies once he is out of Georgia, like my tire won’t hold air so he has to plug it and show me a bogus receipt, I will have to reimburse him for the money i eventually told him if anything goes wrong with the truck he should please call Love’s roadside assistance as we are setting up an account with Love’s he said ok. He got to Pennsylvania and came up with something else that the truck is shutting down that he needs a sealant and three gallons of antifreeze he said he’s going to the auto zone and will call me once he gets there he got there and i spoke with the store manager he got the items and i paid $143 over the phone he returned everything and got the cash back instead i spoke with the manager the next day because after buying the parts he still told me that the problem is still persisting he said he will call a roadside mechanic he did and after an hour someone called me from New York number and told me my truck has been fixed and good to go once i pay him $940.69 i asked the guy why didn’t you call me to tell me before you started the job the guy said my driver told him to go ahead and do it and if i don’t pay him he will have to tow my truck,I am in Georgia someone talking in New York about towing my truck i was vulnerable so i paid. Early the next morning my driver text me again that the truck is still having the same problem i felt i have had enough of this driver and told him to reach out to the guy he made me pay $940.69 and talk to him,I called auto zone and asked the manager about the parts i bought for $143 the previous day and he told me my driver returned everything and got a cash instead. I received emails from my Fuelman account that my driver is putting a different miles when pumping diesel i warned him against that but he still does it after that time i have a receipt and a statement where he bought 157 gallons of diesel and still buy another 57 gallons on the same day just 4 hours apart. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS MAN IF YOU HIRE HIM,YOU NEED TO MONITOR YOUR FUEL CARD AND LET HIM TAKE YOUR TRUCK TO THE TA OR LOVES IF ANYTHING EVER HAPPENS,I DOUBT IT IF HE WONT FIND A WAY TO EXTORT YOU. REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE A PIG OUT OF THE SWAMP BUT YOU CAN NEVER TAKE THE SWAMP OUT OF THE PIG.

I am fully against hourly wages for truck drivers because that’s cheating,I pay Mr Darren Gaines what no one in the industry pays, the industry average rate per miles now is 40-45CPM, I was paying this man 60CPM making 3,000 miles per week and home on Friday by 4PM before leaving out on Sunday around 8PM. I am a Christian that goes to church on Sundays so if i can go to church on Sunday i feel like my employee must have their days of worship either Saturday or Sunday,a Muslim employee won’t even care because he do his Jumat at any mosque anywhere in the country. I made my Gaines understand he is making more with his 60CPM because some brokers are paying less that $2 per miles and if you find yourself in Florida you are definitely out of luck because you are getting less than a $1 per mile so when you find yourself in Florida with all those crazy tolls and have to pay your drivers 60CPM in a $1 per mile area what do you do? I even showed him some rate confirmations to let him see he is making more but it’s not good enough for him he prefer to extort me and still get a full pay by weekend i won’t be in business for 3 months with a man like Mr Darren Gaines.

here’s the problem with the trucking industry.   The hard workers are never recognized    I have a friend of mine that’s in the trucking industry and he told me something about the trucking industry that businesses should pay attention to .

He works in the trucking industry and the money that he makes currently right now is actually less than what he was making 15 years ago he gets paid by the hour and he’s making less than what he made 15 years ago .   The companies that do shipping or transporting products or frayed to charge their customers a decent rate to the point where they can actually pay their drivers what they’re actually worth.

Truck drivers sacrifice so much they’re away from their family most of the time.   They don’t get a spending time with your kids if they have any .  They don’t get to sleep in their own bed most of the time because they’re sleeping in a mattress is about 2 1/2 inches thick.  Every truckstop they go to the get financially raped just for a meal that sucks.

Their dispatchers will lie to them just to get them to do another load that it’s a hot load it’s got to go now,  that prevents them from taking a few days off maybe going home and seeing the family it’s an inconvenience for the dispatchers.   I’ve always said the truck drivers should be paid a minimum of $100,000 a year given the fact that they sacrifice so much  to keep the truck moving.

I’m sorry for your situation and I understand that there some kind of a website where trucking companies can go and write reviews about drivers I totally understand some cases the companies a writing negative reviews about the drivers  do you help prevent them from getting work just to get even  because the driver quit or wouldn’t do what they wanted the driver to do as a slave  behind the wheel.

I’m sorry for your situation it sounds to me obviously that the driver you hired was definitely a scammer just trying to find an extra way to pump more money out of your pocket that’s a shame I think you should pursue that legally but what would you get and how much would it cost you.

Truck drivers need to stick together when it comes to pay.  Maybe if there was a strike nationwide of all of the truck driver saying we had enough we’re not going to movie these  trucks unt  reasonable salary starts coming their way.   Huge number of  truckers are making so much less than what they made several years ago and I’m sure that they would love to talk about that because the sacrifice so much.

I hear it all the time Company’s complaining they can’t find qualified employees  in the trucking industry.  Where you’re coming from it’s obvious you want to pay a driver a fair wage I totally understand where you’re coming from but in the most cases from what I’ve heard trucking companies want their drivers to work for practically nothing and they’re always looking for a way to beat them out of their pay

I personally think there should be some kind of law that would’ve trucker is in the truck going down the road they should get paid by the hour not by the mile and not by the load and they should get time and a half after every hour they work beyond 40 hours a week.  There are so many truck crashes  nationwide I think a lot of it has to do with the truck drivers getting paid by the mile or by the load.

They should get paid by the hour as long as they can prove that the truck is moving and the driver is a productive member of the team.  After 40 hours on the job they should be getting paid time and a half and they should be getting some kind of health care insurance from the trucking company that will help pay the bills if something goes wrong with their health or their family’s health.

I am willing to bet that many truck drivers work way more than 40 hours a week at their jobs when most of the general population work 40 hours a week or less.   And the people that work 40 hours a week b***h and complain that they’ve had a tough week at their job

From what my friend says they should jump in the trucking industry for a few weeks and see what it’s like to put in a full week of trucking didn’t know what a long week years.

I know the department of transportation is doing everything they can to reduce the number of crashes and  deaths in the trucking industry it’s real easy  for that to be fixed    Slow down the truckers by paying them by the hour not by the load and not by the mile.
